New South Wales Police Force commissioner revealed at a press conference that a shoe containing a decomposed human foot was washed up on Bournda Beach.

The beach was 500 kilometres from Melissa's home in Dover Heights.

The shoe matched her size and the description of the shoes she was wearing during the raid.

DNA testing of samples from the foot and her toothbrush, as well as family members, confirmed the foot belonged to Melissa.

When did she go missing?

In the early hours of November 12, 2020, Melissa disappeared from the family home.

Her son was allegedly the last person to hear her, who detected a door shutting around 5.30am.

What has been said about Melissa Caddick's disappearance?

In May 2023 Melissa was pronounced dead after an inquest was unable to determine how she died.

The deputy coroner publicly criticised Melissa's husband, Anthony Koletti, for delaying in reporting his wife missing.

New South Wales Commissioner Mick Fuller said: "There's always a chance she cut her foot off and is still alive but that's pretty fanciful.

"But nevertheless we haven't closed this case. We are still looking for her remains and we're still looking of where the funds may be."
