Who was South Korean rapper Iron?

Iron, whose real name was Chung Heon-chul, was a South Korean artist.

He shot to fame as a runner-up on a reality TV rap competition Show Me The Money in 2014.

He released his first and only album, Rock Bottom, on 9 September 2016.

One track on the album, titled Roll, stirred up controversy for it's lyrics that seemingly depicted a rape fantasy.

How did he die?

Police are still investigating the cause of his death.

The star was known for his scandals over recent years. In December 2020, he was arrested for assaulting his 18-year-old roommate , who was living with him to learn music, with a baseball bat.

In 2018, he was given an eight month suspended prison sentence for punching his girlfriend. It was reported he also strangled her when she tried to end the relationship.

Late last year, the musician was fined more than $4,500 for spreading false rumors relating to the former girlfriend, according to SCMP.

A conviction before that involved marijuana use.

Where was he found?

The rapper was "found unconscious and bleeding on an apartment complex’s flower bed" in Jung District, Seoul, according to CNA Lifestyle.

He was discovered by an apartment security guard around 10.25am, where he was immediately taken to hospital and ultimately pronounced dead.
