You can earn £50 an hour this Christmas with no qualifications or experience – here's how

ANYONE wanting to pick up some extra cash before Christmas can now earn £50 an hour – and no qualifications or experience is needed.

Website Whatshed.co.uk is currently recruiting a team from different areas around the UK to help find and rank the best garden centres at Christmas.

Those picked will earn £50 an hour to visit and review garden centres in their local area.

WhatShed is the largest independent guide for gardening and garden buildings in the UK and provides a one-stop shop for gardeners of all abilities.

The online site is hiring after a survey of more than 2,000 people in the UK found that visiting a garden centre is nowadays a popular Christmas tradition.

It revealed that two-thirds of people visit a garden centre every year during the festive period.

The survey also showed three in ten people purchase their Christmas tree from a garden centre and nearly half purchase decorations.

The reviews from the critics will be used to determine the UK’s best Christmas garden centre, with scores being given in a variety of categories, including quality of Christmas displays, decorations, festive foods and more.

Anyone applying will have to be available to visit up to 10 garden centres between December 13 and Christmas Eve.

Any member of the public can apply but must be over the age of 18, have a full UK driving licence and have a passion for gardening as well as Christmas.

The deadline for applications is December 6 and you can apply online.

Anyone applying can also nominate their local centre to be included in the ranking, The News reports.

WhatShed will review the centre entries to ensure they meet the criteria before being added to their map.

The successful candidate must be available to attend a different centre in their region at least twice a week, making it an ideal role for people such as students, retirees and the unemployed.

Critics will have their travel expenses covered but accommodation will not be included if they decide to stay in certain locations.

The successful applicant will also only be paid to spend two hours at each garden centre.

Kate Fromings from Whatshed.co.uk said: “Garden Centres are growing in popularity, especially after being one of the only retailers allowed to open throughout the Covid-19 lockdowns.

“With Christmas just around the corner and our research revealing that visiting a garden centre is a much-loved household tradition in the UK, we wanted to put together our very own list of the top garden centres to visit not just this Christmas, but following Christmasses too.

“We know this will be an exciting opportunity for many people and can’t wait to review all the applications.

“If you have a passion for gardening and love all things festive we urge you to apply – Good luck.”

Successful candidates will be told by December 9.

Due to the expected number of applications, WhatShed said it will only be contacting those who are successful.
