This Non-Greasy Face Oil Is Perfect for Transitional Weather

Fall isn't called transitional weather for nothing. It's the season to switch out nearly everything in your routine, from glasses of iced coffee to mugs of hot lattes, strappy sandals to snuggly sweaters, and airy blankets to hefty comforters. Same goes for skincare: When days of hot, humid weather start dwindling to be replaced by drier, chillier conditions, it's time to pull out richer products for an extra dose of hydration.

My acne-prone skin is always hard to care for when fall rolls around, since I have to prevent it from being overly dry (which can actually further exacerbate acne) while only using products that won't clog my pores or leave my complexion feeling greasy. The hardest to get right is always facial oils, since they can easily feel sticky or heavy on my skin, but at last I've found a fantastic option in Oak Essentials' Ritual Oil. It's the one I've been gravitating towards all month so far, and the one that I'll be reaching for this fall.

If you're unfamiliar with Oak Essentials, you won't be the only one. The new skincare brand comes from designer Jenni Kayne (yes, the one known for her d'Orsay flats and cardigans), and was launched in late August with a collection of moisturizers, face mists, cleansing balms, oils, and serums. The "clean" brand says everything is made without synthetic fragrances, silicones, colorants, sulfates, phthalates, parabens, PEGs, petroleum, mineral oil, and nanoparticles.

After testing out everything, I found the Ritual Oil to be the clear standout from the bunch. Its blue color comes from blue tansy oil (which is one of the best oils for preventing breakouts due to its antibacterial, antihistamine, and anti-inflammatory nature) and is formulated with hydrating ingredients like jojoba seed oil, marula seed oil, and antioxidant-rich turmeric root oil. I use it morning and night, warming up two to three drops of the oil between my fingers before pressing it onto my face, and it always melts into my skin in seconds.

The way it instantly gets absorbed actually wowed me on the first try, and I've never had to worry about having a thin film of grease on my cheeks or a blinding shine on my T-zone with the Ritual Oil. Plenty of oils simply hydrate or leave your skin feeling less tightened in colder weather, but Oak Essentials' oil actually softens my face to give it a healthy glow. Since using the oil for close to a month, my skin has had no complaints, and it hasn't led to any significant new breakouts.

The oil has definitely become my new go-to, and as the weather gets even chillier and drier come October, I'll be increasingly relying on the Ritual Oil to get soft, plump, and glowy skin.
