The Big Brother star went on to ask Graham: "Have you still got your dog?"

The chatshow host, 57, awkwardly responded: "No. Dead."

He then burst out laughing as fellow This Morning host Dermot O'Leary held his head in his hands.

An embarassed Alison said: "Oh, I'm gutted. I'm so sorry.

Alison and Dermot took over Friday hosting duties from Eamonn Holmes and Ruth Langsford when they left on 18 December.

The couple, who made a dig about 'getting rid of us' on their last show, asked fans to be kind to Alison when she starts.

Eamonn, 61, said: "You won't be watching us anymore on a Friday, Alison Hammond and Dermot O'Leary will be here on Fridays here on in.

"Please we would ask you to be nice and lovely to them, friends of ours as they are, we're very close to Alison and she has been to us for the past 15 years."
