Big Brother’s Craig Phillips details dyslexia battle and leaving school aged 15

Craig Phillips, who has teamed up with the UK’s fastest-growing chalk paint brand Frenchic, has lifted the lid on leaving school at an early age.

The Big Brother series one winner has described his struggles with dyslexia and his career before he rose to fame on the popular reality show in a wider conversation about his favourite paint Frenchic, which is all-natural and eco-friendly.

In a new interview with Express.co.uk, the 51-year-old DIY expert explained a sense of creativity has always driven him forward.

“I think even from when I was a kid, I was always quite creative and making things with my hands,” Craig reflected.

“I was never the best educated in school. I am dyslexic, and I kind of suffered with my reading and writing.

“But I got to 17 or 18 years of age and realised that it wasn’t enough for me just to use my hands being a butcher.

“I wanted to be creative and build things,” he reflected.

When Craig was 18 he began working as a labourer, and by the time he entered the Big Brother house, he was directing his own team of workers.

In 2000, at the age of 28, Craig appeared on the reality series and won it, which opened up a huge new world of possibilities for him to bring his knowledge of DIY and construction to our screens.

Since then, he has famously presented shows like Housecall and 60 Minute Makeover.

Speaking more about using Frenchic paint, Craig marvelled at its versatility and stunning finish, admitting: “Pretty much everything you see inside and outside my house is painted with it!”

He also admitted the quality of the paint was “like nothing I’d ever seen before” and has since made it his mission to spread the word to fellow DIY lovers and people looking to do up their houses with some professional flare.
