Britney Spears thanks Lady Gaga for calling her an 'inspiration'

‘You made me cry!’: Britney Spears gushes over Lady Gaga for ‘genuinely’ taking the time to speak about her after the singer called her an ‘inspiration to women’ in new interview

Britney Spears shared her gratitude with Lady Gaga on Friday night after the House Of Gucci star spoke about her sympathetically.

Gaga, 35, shared words of support for Spears, 39, on Thursday when she walked the red carpet for the Los Angeles premiere of her new Ridley Scott–directed crime film.

Britney shared a short clip of the Oscar winner speaking shortly after she lambasted Christina Aguilera in another post for ‘refusing to speak when’ she allegedly knew the truth about her treatment under her recently dissolved conservatorship.

Solidarity: Britney Spears, 39, said Lady Gaga made her ‘cry’ after she spoke out against Spears’ treatment under her conservatorship during the LA premiere of House Of Gucci on Thursday

Britney posted video of Gaga speaking to ET Canada to her Instagram Stories in response to a question about her.

‘The way that she was treated in this business was really wrong,’ the Star Is Born actress said. ‘And the way that women are treated in the music industry is something that I wish would change.’

She concluded by saying that Britney would ‘forever be an inspiration to women.’

Britney wrote about how touched she was by the sweet words in her caption to the post.

‘Thank you @ladygaga for genuinely taking your time to say something so kind,’ she wrote. ‘You made me cry!!! I love you!!!’

After Britney’s post, Gaga shared her own response to her Insta Stories later on Friday night.

She shared a makeup-free of herself lying down in a mauve shirt with her platinum blond hair swept back.

‘Love you @britneyspears. Live your best life,’ she wrote. The Rain On  Me singer said that she ‘prayed for the legal system’ to treat the Toxic singer ‘like a person.’

She also praised Britney for changing ‘the course for women in this industry forever.’

‘You stood up for yourself and were so brave,’ she concluded.

Boosting each other up: Gaga urged Britney to live her ‘best life’ in a follow-up post and called her ‘so brave’

During her House Of Gucci premiere, the Poker Face singer told Variety that she would love to work with Britney in the future.

‘I love all of Britney’s works. I can’t just name one [favorite]. I mean, Oops!…I Did It Again, is of course one of my favorites,’ she gushed.

Shortly after the older pop star’s conservatorship was dissolved, Gaga (born Stefani Germanotta) shared words of praise on Instagram.

‘I have loved @britneyspears her whole career,’ she captioned a photo of herself in drag kissing Britney on the cheek at the MTV Video Music Awards in 2011. ‘I looked up to her, admired her strength — she empowered so many people and still does. I couldn’t be more happy for you today. You never deserved what happened.’

At the 2011 ceremony, Gaga paid tribute to Britney — who was being awarded the Video Vanguard award — as her male alter-ego Jo Calderone.

The two almost kissed on the lips, though the Baby One More Time singer shut it down at the last second.

‘I’ve done that already,’ she joked, referencing her infamous 2003 kiss with Madonna.

Gaga’s kind words and Britney’s loving response were a stark contrast to how the Womanizer singer responded to fellow pop diva Christina Aguilera for ‘refusing to speak’ about her conservatorship termination on Friday.

The 40-year-old Dirrty singer was asked if she and Spears were still in communication while walking the red carpet at the 22nd Annual Latin Grammy Awards on November 18, before her team quickly interjected ‘we’re not doing that tonight.’

Re-posting the clip to social media, Britney wrote: ‘refusing to speak when you know the truth is equivalent to a lie!!!’

Lashing out: Spears re-posted the clip of Christina on the red carpet at the 22nd Annual Latin Grammy Awards on November 18, where her team quickly interjected when she was asked to speak on the conservatorship’s end

‘I love and adore everyone who supported me…but refusing to speak when you know the truth is equivalent to a lie!!!!,’ Spears began.

’13 years being in a corrupt abusive system yet why is it such a hard topic for people to talk about??? I’m the one who went through it!!!! All the supporters who spoke up and supported me thank you…yes I do matter!!!!!’

In the clip Christina was asked if she and Spears had ‘had any communication’ before a member of her team quickly thwarted any response, as he quipped: ‘No we’re not doing that tonight, I’m sorry, thank you though, bye!’

Before dragging her off from the interview Christina added ‘But I’m happy for her.’

Christina previously spoke out publicly out about Spears’ conservatorship on social media.

In June the Genie In A Bottle singer had tweeted a photo of them from their Mickey Mouse club days and called her treatment under the conservatorship ‘unacceptable.’

‘These past few days I’ve been thinking about Britney and everything she is going through. It is unacceptable that any woman, or human, wanting to be in control of their own destiny might to be allowed to life life as they wish.’

She joined other celebrities including Paris Hilton, Cher and Andy Cohen who had also publicly celebrated the Toxic singer’s freedom.

Supportive in the past: In June the Genie In a Bottle singer had tweeted a photo of them from their Mickey Mouse club days and called her treatment under the conservatorship ‘unacceptable’

Spears and Aguilera’s relationship spans back to their Mouseketeer days in the early nineties.

Both Christina and Britney’s stars began to rise around the same time, with Spears becoming an overnight sensation after 1998’s …Baby One More Time, and Christina rocketing to fame after Genie In A Bottle in 1999.

As the ladies became the two major female names in pop music, they were often pitted against each other despite originally starting off as friends.

They were somewhat foils of each other however as Britney was known as music’s ‘good girl’ while Christina had developed a naughtier image.

Memorable: While Britney was helmed as a ‘good girl’ to Christina’s ‘bad girl’ they came together for one of the most memorable performances in television history as they performed with Madonna on the 2003 MTV VMAs

The two however came together for one of the most memorable performances in television history as they performed with Madonna on the 2003 MTV VMAs.

Though each locked lips with Madonna, Aguilera’s kiss was overshadowed by Britney’s as cameras cut to ex Justin Timberlake’s face during the moment which caused Christina’s smooch to get far less attention.

The performance seemed to ignite a feud, with the Moulin Rouge singer making a snide remark about Spears while talking to Blender magazine which caused the Lucky singer to smear her name right back.

‘Every time I tried to start a conversation with her — well, let’s just say she seemed nervous the whole time,’ Christina had said. ‘She seems to me like a lost little girl, someone who desperate needs guidance.’

Retaliating the Circus singer then flipped it on her. ‘A lost girl? I think it’s probably the other way around.’

Rivalry: As the ladies became the two major female names in pop music following the success of Spears’ …Baby One More Time and Aguilera’s Genie In A Bottle,  they were often pitted against each other despite originally starting off as friends; both pictured 2000

She continued to recount a bizarre encounter where she accused the Ain’t No Other Man singer of being ‘fake’ after she tried to ‘put her tongue down my throat’ in a nightclub after not having seen or spoken for years.

‘When someone has been rude to you so many times, it’s like, “You know what, Christina, I’m really not about the fake anymore,”‘ Spears told Blender.

Insults continued to hurl a year later as Christina said Britney acted like ‘trailer trash’ and quipped that her engagement ring from Kevin Federline looked like it was from ‘QVC.’

She later recanted the statements while speaking to DailyMail.com in 2008 and tried to say that they weren’t competitive despite the media portrayal.

‘When we both started releasing records, it was a funny time for me. It must have seemed as if we were competing with each other, but, in reality, Britney is someone that I used to hold hands with. I don’t pass any judgment on what she does, I always wish her all the best.’

A decade later Christina seemed to try and start anew as she posted a video collage of herself with powerful women for International Women’s Day, which included Spears.

Free: Following 13 years Britney’s conservatorship was terminated for good with the help from her lawyer Mathew Rosengart and it has now been said that she and her team including former conservator Jodi Montgomery have filed a ‘termination plan’ to help her transition to normal life
