Chrissy Teigen has shared a heartfelt apology and explanation letter to her fans and those she hurt with her past trolling behaviour.

The star, who is married to superstar John Legend, is one half of one of the most beloved celeb couples in the world.

But fans were heartbroken when it came to light that the model had sent vile messages and written tweets about various celebrities when she was younger.

The story surfaced in May and mum-of-two Chrissy was devastated as she apologised to Courtney Stodden publicly for being an “insecure, attention seeking troll”.

Following a period of self-imposed social media silence, the star posted a letter telling fans that she has “changed” and is “ashamed” for her past actions.

“I know I’ve been quiet, and lord knows you don’t want to hear about me, but I want you to know I’ve been sitting in a hole of deserved global punishment, the ultimate ‘sit here and think about what you’ve done’,” she began on her blog.

“Not a day, not a single moment has passed where I haven’t felt the crushing weight of regret for the things I’ve said in the past.”

Going on to say she was “truly ashamed” for her past tweets and comments, Chrissy insisted she is ready to listen to what her victims have to say in response to her apologies – should they choose to respond.

The stunning blonde also told how she understood there was “no excuse” for her actions and she is incredibly sorry.

After sharing the context for what prompted her to behave in such a cruel manner as a younger star, Chrissy said things have changed.

“The truth is, I’m no longer the person who wrote those horrible things,” the model posted.

“I grew up, got therapy, got married, had kids, got more therapy, experienced loss and pain, got more therapy and experienced more life. AND GOT MORE THERAPY.”

Despite acknowledging the weight of her past, Chrissy is hopeful about her personal journey of “self-improvement” and how she will continue to become a better and kinder person in the future.

In particular, the star wants to continue growing for her daughter Luna, noting that her husband tells her “every day” they’re exactly alike.

“We are all more than our worst moments,” Chrissy then shared in one poignant line.

“I won’t ask for your forgiveness, only your patience and tolerance. I ask that you allow me, as I promise to allow you, to own past mistakes and be given the opportunity to seek self improvement and change,” Chrissy finished.
