Louisa Lytton has opened up about the "negative" thoughts she's been experiencing about her body since finding out she's pregnant with her first child with fiancé Ben Bhanvra.

The 32 year old, who recently showed off her blossoming baby bump during a stroll, took part in the Made by Mammas podcast to explain that there are times she "hates" her body.

The EastEnders star, who plays Ruby Allen in the hit BBC soap opera, said that while she's "so happy" to be expecting her first child, it hasn't all been fun and games.

"You are pregnant so everyone around you feels like this is the best news possible," she told hosts Zoe Hardman and Georgia Dayton.

Louisa continued: "This is what you wanted so you should feel happy every day and not have any negative thoughts. And in my head I thought this doesn't sit right.

"I am so happy that I am pregnant but I am so unhappy in many other ways. At first I had sickness but my body was changing and I wasn't in control of the fact that I had no energy. Normally I am a really energetic person."

The soap actress described how she went from eating very healthily and exercising every day to craving junk food she normally wouldn't eat.

"I was craving really terrible foods and I don't really eat like that. You are almost afraid to speak to anyone around it," she went on.

Louisa, who recently shared a peak inside her nursery for her baby as she made a start on painting her London home, added that she felt "terrible" speaking to her friends about it all because some people struggle to conceive.

She continued: "My mum was like, 'You are pregnant of course you are going to put on weight'. And to my friends who hadn't been through it, I felt terrible to be negative around the fact that I was pregnant when some people are trying.

"It becomes quite isolating and quite lonely in a way. I had days when I was at home crying to Ben like, 'I hate my body and I don't like what is going on'."

Instead of discussing her struggles with her friends, Louisa turned to her other half Ben, but explained he simply "couldn't understand" what she's going through.

She said: "I talked to Ben for a while but I knew he just couldn't understand it," she said. "Before I was even pregnant throughout the first lockdown we were eating so healthily I was exercising every day.

"Looking back I was tiny, if I am honest. Even then I'd say, 'Look at my bum, look at my cellulite '. To him it was just me doing my usual, 'I don't like myself'."

She added: "I ended up speaking to a few of my friends and they've all been amazing but it is so hard to even explain to people how you feel. I couldn't work it out for myself."
