Laura Tobin was forced to miss her Good Morning Britain weather report today when technical issues hit the show – but luckily, viewers didn't need to miss out on their Tuesday weather as Charlotte Hawkins stood in.
With just seconds' notice to take on the weather report, Charlotte, 46, showed her professionalism by managing to deliver a perfect segment while Laura sorted the issues at her end.
The show was supposed to go live to Hever Castle in Kent where weather presenter Laura, 39, was on location – but ironically, her report was spoiled by the weather.
When the programme tried to cut to the castle location, the screen was blank with Laura nowhere to be seen.
Luckily, unflappable Charlotte was in charge of the link and seamlessly took on the report herself.
She said: "Now it's quarter past six and normally we would be going over to Laura with the weather, she's live at Hever Castle.
"But the rain is interfering with the signal. So let me tell you what's coming up…"
Broadcasting pro Charlotte then went on to deliver a perfect weather report.
She finished with: "If she's watching that hopefully I did alright, I'm sure she'll let me know later."
Later in the show, Good Morning Britain did manage a live link-up with Laura at a very rainy Hever Castle, where she presented her own weather report.
She also thanked Charlotte, saying: "Thank you so much to Charlotte for her wonderful job reading the weather earlier this morning."
Earlier this year, Charlotte, who took part in Strictly Come Dancing in 2017, showed off her dancing skills live on air in the Good Morning Britain studio.
As the team discussed a TikTok video of three women dancing to the BBC News theme tune, Charlotte jumped out of her chair and performed the dance to her own show's opening music instead.
However, Piers Morgan, who was still host of the show at the time, was less impressed than some of her co-stars.
He said: "It's baffling why Brendan Cole was kicked off Strictly after that.
"Just reminding the nation yet again why they voted you straight off."
