Kate Middleton Subtly Paid Tribute to the Queen on Her Birthday with Some Meaningful Earrings

The Queen celebrated her 95th birthday on April 21, the same day that Prince William and Kate Middleton attended their first royal engagement since the death of Prince Philip. Kate and Wills visited the Air Cadets of the Royal Air Force, wearing matching black outfits due to the royals being in a period of mourning. But Duchess Kate managed to pay subtle tribute to the Queen on her birthday, wearing a borrowed pair of Her Majesty’s pearl and diamond earrings.

As Us Weekly notes, the Queen first wore these earrings during her silver jubilee in 1977, pairing them with a bright pink dress, matching hat, a double strand pearl necklace, and a massive diamond brooch:
