Phil Collins Reveals He Won’t Be Drumming On Upcoming Genesis Tour

Phil Collins has made it clear that he will not be playing drums when Genesis hit the road again in October for a tour of the U.K. and North America.

“I can barely hold a stick with this hand. So there are certain physical things which get in the way,” the 70-year old Collins said in a BBC Breakfast interview.

“I’m kind of physically challenged a bit, which is very frustrating ’cause, you know, I’d love to be playing up there with my son,” added Collins, who has a nerve problem in his left hand, hearing issues and suffered a spinal injury in 2007 and a head injury a decade later.

The legendary Genesis singer and drummer confirmed that his son Nic Collins will replace him as the drummer for “The Last Domino Tour.”

The Genesis reunion tour will kick off this winter, marking the British progressive rock band’s first tour in 14 years.

Collins’ bandmates Tony Banks and Mike Rutherford also took part in the BBC Breakfast show.
