Shrek is heading back to theaters!
The Oscar-winning film is returning to theaters in honor of its 20th anniversary.
Fathom Events will be hosting showings in select theaters on April 25, 28 and 29. Tickets will go on sale March 12.
Fathom Events Vice President of Studio Relations Tom Lucas said in a statement, “We are delighted to partner with Universal and DreamWorks Animation to bring Shrek back to the big screen for its 20th anniversary. This treasured animated feature has enduring multi-generational appeal and makes for a great day at the cinema for the whole family.”
The film will also be released in 4K for the first time in May. The Shrek 20th Anniversary Edition includes the 4K UHD, Blu-ray and DVD versions of the film, as well as lots of bonus materials.
Shrek was selected for preservation in the Library of Congress’ National Film Registry for being “culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant” in 2020. It was the first DreamWorks film and the first animated feature not produced by Disney to receive that honor.
