Tom Kerridge receives backlash after Christmas dinner box without turkey or veg

Tom Kerridge’s Beef Wellington Christmas Box

Chef Tom Kerridge has received criticism after unveiling his controversial Christmas dinner kit.

The kit, which has been designed to feed four people, is priced at £215.

However, buyers will not only still have to cook the meal, but they will also have to purchase vegetables and any extras separately.

Tom, 50, took to Instagram to share the contents of his box with his 682,000 followers.

Wearing a Christmas jumper, the Masterchef regular explained how he was ditching the traditional Turkey, instead offering a festive Beef Wellington.

In the video Tom could be seen taking out the contents of the box one by one, showing viewers what’s inside.

Writing alongside the video, Tom said: “Introducing the return of the ultimate festive indulgence… My Beef Wellington Christmas Box.”

He went on to add the details saying: “Featuring handmade, succulent Beef Wellington, Red Wine sauce and Pigs in Blankets. All you have to do is add the veg!

“As if that wasn’t enough, follow with a Sticky Toffee Pudding, Toffee Sauce and Christmas Spiced Butter. Oh and, Creamy Salted Caramel Fudge to have with your post-feast coffee.”

Some fans took to the comments section to blast the box for being what they believed to be poor value for money.

One wrote: “Looks amazing, but for the price (and the reel), I was expecting vegetables to also be included.”

A second added: “Hold on while I sell a few internal organs on the black market so I can afford this”, and a third fumed: “£215. Ridiculous”

A fourth commented how they would have to buy multiple boxes to be able to feed their family: “It would cost me £1,000 then for Christmas dinner.”

Not everyone had a negative reaction to the box that includes a handmade Beef Wellington and a dessert of traditional sticky toffee pudding.

One fan wrote: “Looks amazing!”

Whilst a second added: “At first glance, £215 feels like a lot… But, as someone who runs a restaurant, it’s much less than eating out on Xmas day, which is likely £300++ for 4 people. And then you factor in that it’s probably extremely good quality ingredients… I mean, OF COURSE you could buy all the ingredients and make it yourself, but if you’re willing to do that, then these types of thing was never meant for you. It’s supposed to take away that prep.” (sic)

And a third said: “Look at that big box of Christmas deliciousness!”
