PRINCE William has blasted billionaire like Jeff Bezos and Richard Branson for indulging in "space tourism" instead of fixing the planet.
Speaking to the BBC ahead of the announcement of his Earthshot prize, the Duke of Cambridge said: "We need some of the world’s greatest brains and minds fixed on trying to repair this planet, not trying to find the next place to go and live."
It comes a day after Star Trek legend William Shatner became the oldest person in space following a successful flight by Blue Origin – owned by Amazon founder Jeff Bezos.
When he landed, he said: "Everybody in the world needs to see this".
But space tourism for the rich and famous has been roundly blasted including by the United Nations for being massively environmentally unfriendly.
William spoke out ahead of his Earthshot Prize which is giving out £50million over next decade for initiatives that save the planet.

Meghan will dump Harry, her estranged half-brother claims
Meghan Markle will dump Harry before long, her estranged half-brother has claimed.
Thomas Markle Jr, 55, alleged the duchess “walked all over” her first husband, US film producer Trevor Engleson – and she’ll do the same to the prince.
Meghan’s first marriage lasted just two years. Mr Engelson has since remarried after announcing his engagement weeks after Meghan and Harry were wed.
And in a new trailer for Australia’s Big Brother VIP, Thomas claimed Harry’s “on the chopping block next”.
Meghan is not close with Thomas and it’s not known if he has any knowledge of the circumstances behind her split from Mr Engleson.
However, in the trailer, he said: “The guy that she was married to the first time – she just walked all over him and dumped him.”
In response to another housemate who says that sounds “cold-blooded”, he nodded before adding: “Harry’s on the chopping block next.”

Question over Archie’s skin colour was Royals ‘being realistic’ says Barnsey
THE unnamed royal who questioned the skin colour of Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s son Archie was “just being realistic” and not racist, John Barnes has said.
The ex-Liverpool ace, 57, made the comments after Meghan told Oprah Winfrey during an explosive interview that Archie wasn’t made a prince after “concerns and conversations” about “how dark” his skin would be when he was born.
Barnes said in his opinion that most black people would say “so what” to a question about their baby’s skin colour.
Barnes – a dad-of-seven – told the Sunday Times Magazine: “You speak to most black people and they’ll say ‘Yeah, so what?’ I would expect that conversation to be had by the family.
“People will always wonder what the baby will look like and if it is going to be dark. If you listen to what Meghan says, it’s not about them [the unnamed royal] worrying if the baby is dark or not, it’s them worrying about how the public are going to view that.
“Because they know if the baby is too dark, the public will not view the baby as positively. They’re being realistic. Let’s not pretend the public won’t care whether it’s a blond-haired blue-eyed baby or jet black, because they will.”

Elton John is ‘no show’ at Diana memorial
SIR Elton John has been forced to reject an invitation from the Palace to celebrate the life of his friend Princess Diana.
The I’m Still Standing singer is no longer able to attend next week’s party focused around the statue of the late royal in Kensington Palace as he is recovering from hip replacement surgery.
The bash was initially set to take place earlier this year around the same time the sculpture was unveiled, though was postponed due to Covid.
Elton, 74, was invited by Prince William and royal aides to the exclusive event on October 19 for friends and family of Diana along with 100 other VIP guests.
However, despite multiple reports he will attend, The Sun can confirm that Elton sent his apologies – citing his recent hip operation as the reason for his no show.

Isolated Andrew
PRINCE Andrew has become “isolated” from the Royal Family and is the “only person in the world clinging” to the idea that he could return to public life, an expert has claimed.
It comes as Virginia Roberts is attempting to sue the royal in a New York court after alleging that she was forced to have sex with him three times when she was 17.
Royal editor Russel Myers has said he believes that the firm are “closing ranks” on the Duke of York, as they are afraid he will damage the family’s reputation further.
Speaking on Lorraine earlier today, Mr Myers said: “I think he is the only person in the entire world at the moment who is clinging to the aspect that he could return.”
He added: “It does seem they’re closing ranks together on him and he’s become quite isolated.”

‘Not interested in making things work’
Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are “not interested in making things work” with the Royal Family after they snubbed an invite to a bash in honour of Princess Diana.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex turned down the invitation to the rescheduled party at Kensington Palace just weeks after flying to New York for a royal-style tour of the city.
Royal expert and author, Penny Junor said: “It is a great shame they are not coming.
“The longer they stay away the greater the rift and the more difficult it is to come back from.
“They don’t come back and the rift continues.
“There is a lot of work to be done, it’s a shame they can’t come back. It shows they are not interested in making things work.”

New job at investment firm
Harry and Meghan have revealed they have become “impact partners” and investors at sustainable investing firm Ethic.
In a statement the couple said: “When we invest in each other we change the world…
“Be it through the investment of time (as with mentoring), investment in community (as with volunteering), or in the investment of funds (for those who have the means to), our choices – of how and where we put our energy – define us as a global community.
“We believe it’s time for more people to have a seat at the table when decisions are made that impact everyone.
“We want to rethink the nature of investing to help solve the global issues we all face.
“That is one of the ways we put our values in action.”

Megging a comeback?
MEGHAN Markle and Prince Harry have given away a big clue that they are preparing a big social media comeback, claims a royal expert.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex stopped posting on their SussexRoyal account when they stepped down as senior royals in 2020.
However, if their recent royal tour to New York is anything to go by, the couple could be posting again for fans in the near future.
Royal commentator Roberta Fiorito said on the Royally Obsessed podcast: “I was reading so much about Meghan and Harry having a video camera and a photographer following them.
“We haven’t seen any Archewell updates when they were in New York so we’re going to see tonnes of footage from that.
“There’s maybe a Netflix documentary in the works. There’s speculation they are relaunching their social channels and this is all content for that.”

It was reported last night that Prince William sees his uncle as a threat to the monarchy’s future.

Still fits!
After 10 years, and three children, the Duchess of Cambridge is still slipping into the same outfits she first wore at the start of her royal career.
Yesterday, the royal wore an emerald Erdem coat that she first wore in 2014 for a visit to Kew Gardens with Prince William.
The 39-year-old paired the coat with a green jumper and wide-leg black trousers, proving her figure to be timeless and just how well she has managed to maintain her slender frame.
Over the years, the Duchess of Cambridge has often opted to recycle the same clothing items she wore before becoming a mother.

Thomas Markle Jr and Meghan’s relationship
Thomas has made a number of comments about his sister and her marriage since it was announced that he’d be joining Big Brother.
In August, he claimed he’d warned Harry that “very shallow” Meghan would “ruin” his life.
Before Harry and Meghan’s wedding, Thomas sent the groom a letter saying it wasn’t “too late” for him to back out as his sister was “obviously not the right woman for you”.
He claims the last time he saw Meghan was a decade ago in 2011.
The pair don’t have a relationship and he did not attended the Sussexes’ wedding.
Thomas has also made a series of attacks on Meghan, labelling her a “jaded, shallow, conceited woman”.

George went LITTER PICKING and was ‘annoyed’ by how much rubbish he found
PRINCE William has revealed how his son George went litter picking and was “annoyed” by how much rubbish he found.
The Duke of Cambridge’s comments come ahead of his Earthshot Prize this Sunday where he will be handing out millions to save the planet.
He told the BBC: “So George at school recently has been doing litter picking and I didn’t realise but talking to him the other day he was already showing that he was getting a bit confused and a bit sort of annoyed by the fact they went out litter picking one day.
“Then the very next day they did the same route, same time and pretty much all the same litter they picked up was back again.
“And I think that for him he was trying to understand how and where it all came from.
“He couldn’t understand, he’s like, ‘Well, we cleaned this. Why has it not gone away?’”

Nanny rules
PRINCE William and Prince Harry’s nanny banned them from having comfort blankets and wearing trainers, a royal author has claimed.
Shortly after Princess Diana had given birth to William, Prince Charles felt his wife “needed a nanny” and employed Barbara Barnes to help.
According to Robert Lacey’s biography, Battle of Brothers, Nanny Barnes was strict with both Kensington Palace staff and the young princes.
He wrote: “Barnes was equally firm with the children, not allowing them comfort blankets and refusing them shoes until they had learned to walk properly.
“When they did get their first footwear, Nanny insisted on classic Start-Rites with button straps that were shaped to the boys’ feet. Trainers were banned.”

Aussie TV host Karl Stefanovic mocks the Queen with crude joke
AN Australian TV host shocked viewers when he made a crude joke about the Queen.
Karl Stefanovic suggested the 95-year-old monarch might use her new walking stick as a weapon to “beat up” his colleague – before jumping on him “because she’s single now”.
Her Majesty was pictured with the cane while attending a service to honour the Royal British Legion yesterday.
Insiders say the walking aid was purely “for comfort” and not for any specific medical reason.
Newsreader Alex Cullen described how the Queen was using it at the Westminster Abbey ceremony while reporting the headlines.
In front of footage from the thanksgiving, he said: “She was using a cane. She’s 95.”
But Stefanovic butted in to quip: “She’d use it to beat you up.”
His co-presenter Allison Langdon chipped in: “She’d win too.”
Grinning, Cullen replied: “She would win. I’d let her win” before Stefanovic said: “Let her win – she’d smash you bro.”
