Weighing in on the issue of eye bags, celebrity facialist Ada Ooi, founder of 001 Skincare, shared her secrets with OK! Online, offering up eight trusty tips that’ll (hopefully) have you eye bag free in no time.
She also told us why we might get them, saying: “When we are young, fat around the eyes is being enveloped by healthy tendon and muscles with elasticity.
“As we get older, our tendon and muscle start to lose their strength and loosen, the fat behind the tendons start to spill out, creating a bag following the contour of the eye structure.

“While this is happening, the fat density around the mid face region (next to the nose) gradually decreases as we age too, the skin drops pulling the eye bags further downwards.”
Ada added: “In short, as we age, around our eyes and mid face region, the tendons and muscles lose elasticity while fat loses its density, there is much less support to the skin around the eye area, with gravity, creating the shape of bags dropping downwards.”

Tips to reduce eye bags
1. The skin around the eyes is extremely weak. When applying makeup or removing makeup, be gentle and avoid pulling the skin too hard.
2. When drawing the eyeliner, the principle is not to pull the eyelids. For convenience, you can use a dry powder puff to lightly press on the surface to stabilise the position of the hand.
3. When washing your face, wipe the skin around the eyes gently
4. When wearing contact lenses, do not pull down your eyelids. If you want to wear the lenses easily, you can gently raise your eyelids.
5. Don't develop the bad habit of wiping, squinting, and blinking your eyes; wear sunglasses when the sun is violent.

6. Drink plenty of water every day, at least eight glasses, especially when you wake up in the morning, and it is not suitable to drink too much water at night.
7. Try not to drink water half an hour before going to bed. This may affect the circulation of the eyes and cause poor drainage to form eye bags.
