Made in Chelsea star Sam Thompson has delighted viewers with his energetic character and humourous moments during his time on I'm A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here!.
His long-term girlfriend Zara McDermot has noticeably supported him all the way, but it hasn't always been easy for the couple who encountered a brief split amid a cheating scandal.
Sam, 31 shot to fame after he joined the hit Channel 4 reality TV show in 2013 as Jamie Laing's intern at his sweet company Candy Kittens. Fans of the show will remember Sam's turbulent love life from dating co-stars Tiffany Watson and Sophie Habboo before meeting his girlfriend and former 2018 Love Island star Zara McDermot.
The pair started dating in 2019 and Zara became a full-time cast member on Made in Chelsea. Their relationship hit a few rocky patches and a string of arguments unfolded on the show, mostly over his ex Tiffany.
'Cheating' came to light
The couple managed to move past the rifts and appeared stronger than ever. That was until it was alleged that Zara had been unfaithful with someone else during her time on The X Factor: Celebrity in 2019.
At the time a source close to Zara told The Sun: "Sam suspected quite early on that something was going on and there was a big confrontation. Sam found out and kicked off. He’s devastated about how things have turned out."
Zara tearfully admitted the cheating scandal and the couple had an emotional breakdown of their relationship. Numerous conversations followed with co-stars on Made in Chelsea with Jamie Laing removing himself from one after Zara admitted her actions to the girls over some drinks.
The 26 year old admitted she had cheated on Sam when she thought their relationship was going to end. Zara confessed to Jamie: "When it happened I genuinely thought that me and Sam were going to break up, inevitably.
"I just thought we were hanging on by a tiny thread and we're going to break up."
'YOU CAN'
One memorable moment from the cheating scandal saw Sam and Zara have a heartbreaking conversation while on a park bench in Chelsea. The scene saw Zara beg Sam for forgiveness as she said through the tears "No please stay with me".
Sam replied: "Zara it's just for me, I can't do it".
And in the scene that has become a viral meme on TikTok, Zara said: "You can! You can do it, you can!"
The 'YOU CAN' scene is still remembered to this day as one of the most dramatic moments on reality TV. But the pair took the scene on the chin and Sam even reposted the audio on Instagram as he ate a Nando's.
Public apology
Zara also took to Instagram to admit what she had done and issued a public apology to Sam. She said: "Hey Everyone. I just wanted to address the recent speculation in the media. A huge mistake I made a year ago has recently come to light and I want to face this head on.
"I don’t condone being unfaithful and I made a huge mistake at a time in my life where I was hugely selfish and immature. I believe I have learnt so much from my mistake. I want to apologise to my Sam for everything I have put him through, for the pain, the embarrassment, the anger and the hurt.
"All I want to do is make this right and I think the least he deserves is me being honest with myself and all of you. I love you Sam. Forever x."
In late 2020 the pair rekindled their romance after Zara continued to prove that Sam could trust her moving forward. The happy couple now live in a sprawling London pad thought to be worth in the millions and are neighbours to his sister Louise Thompson.
They share two fur babies Albus and Cedric and have gone from strength to strength ever since their relationship blip.
