  • Mum-of-five was called ‘disrespectful’ for her controversial Elf on the Shelf prank
  • The mum-of-five cut a lock of her each of her kids hair off and blamed the elf
  • Parents quickly said the gag was ‘violating’ and ‘too much’ for a kids joke

A mum-of-five has been slammed for taking Elf on the Shelf ‘too far’ after she cut a lock of each of her kids’ hair off while they slept and ‘blamed the elf’.

The ‘disrespectful’ move was the latest in a series of elaborate Elf on the Shelf pranks carried out by the mum that have been criticised for being ‘wasteful’ and ‘extreme’.

However, the American-based woman, Julissa Sahm, defends her pranks and says her kids love the ‘fun’ game.

He had a note that read: ‘You guys needed a haircut. No need to thank me – Cookie.’

‘The kids always look forward to the notes’ the mum captioned her controversial video.

Julissa filmed herself snipping a few centimeters of hair from each of her five kids.

‘Cookie is a very mischievous elf,’ she said.

‘No kids were harmed in the making of this,’ she added as a disclaimer.

Julissa was immediately slammed in the comments section for her ‘violating’ prank.

‘I don’t understand this trend of cutting kids hair and clothing in their sleep without their knowledge for likes. Really disrespectful,’ one woman said.

‘That’s too much now,’ another commented.

‘I just think things like this must breed distrust and is a total violation of safety and respect. I get it’s for fun and a joke but what does this teach children,’ a mum said.

However, some parents saw the funny side and said they couldn’t wait to try the prank on their own brood.

The mum said her kids love the ‘fun’ pranks, but others believe it ‘breeds distrust and is a total violation of safety and respect’

‘I’m definitely doing this,’ one mum commented.

‘I love this! These kids are going to cherish these memories forever! Great job Momma!’ another wrote.

It’s not the first time Julissa got crafty with her scissors and blamed the elf.

Last year the mum faced criticism after cutting her kids pyjamas to make a blanket for the elf.

She filmed herself cutting many small holes in her children’s pyjamas as they slept.

At the end of the clip the elf can be seen wearing the pyjama cuttings as a blanket.

The elf had a note that read: ‘I was cold and couldn’t find a blanket, I hope you don’t mind – Cookie.’

Thousands commented on the video slamming Julissa for the prank.

‘This is shi**y behaviour,’ one mum said.

‘Dumbest, wasteful idea of the privileged class,’ another wrote.

To defend herself, the mum uploaded a follow-up video explaining that the kids got new pyjamas the next day.

However, the clip proved just as controversial as the elf can be seen holding six $100 bills for the children to make up for cutting their pyjamas.
