DEAR DEIDRE: AFTER my 12-year-old daughter tested positive for Covid, my best friend has fallen out with me because I named her as a close contact.
I’m 42 and my friend is 43. After my daughter tested positive, Test And Trace asked me for a list of people we’d been in contact with.
I named my best friend and her daughter, as they had been at our home for an evening.
They were asked to isolate but have now accused me of being selfish for naming them.
My friend can’t work for a week and her daughter has missed her holiday club.
But I was just doing what is required of me – and I feel sad that everyone is angry with me.

DEIDRE SAYS: You have done exactly the right thing and certainly shouldn’t feel guilty for following the rules. Ultimately this is about protecting people from the virus – otherwise your friend could pass on the virus and, in a worst-case scenario, someone could die.
We still have daily coronavirus deaths, after all. I am sure she will eventually calm down but, in the meantime, be assured that you have nothing to apologise for.
My support pack called Standing Up For Yourself will help.
