A woman has revealed why she finds it comforting that her mother is ‘prettier’ than her.
Katie Lopez, from the US, recently took part in a TikTok trend where users share the reasons why they’ve become so thick-skinned.
Filming herself enjoying an evening out with her parent, the university student joked that she has had to come to terms with her mother’s good looks.
Katie wrote: ‘You think you can hurt my feelings? My mom is prettier than me.’
The short clip opens with Katie pointing the camera at herself and showing off her strappy black mini dress.

She then jumps to a clip of her mother – who had her first child at 16 – walking up some stairs behind her.
Holding up her phone to take a selfie, Katie’s mother was dressed in a pink silk strappy top with a pleated black skirt.
She then completed her outfit with a checked clutch bag and styled her blonde hair in loose waves.
The seven-second video ends up Katie’s mother pouting for the camera as the pair film a sweet clip together.
After suggesting that her mother’s appearance once used to bother her, Katie revealed that she now takes comfort in it.
She captioned the clip: ‘At least I know what I’ll look like when I’m older.’
However, viewers rushed to the comments to reassure Katie that she is the spitting image of her mother.
One said: ‘You look exactly like her!
Katie then shared a clip of her parent filming herself on her phone. The mother wore a pink silk strappy top with a pleated back skirt and heels for their evening out

Trying to reassure Katie, another added: ‘You both SLAY. What do you mean?’
Meanwhile, a third replied: ‘Umm you’re beautiful so…’
In another video posted on her TikTok, Katie said that she and her mother are ‘best friends’ – but also ‘can’t go a day without fighting’.
