In a room full of athletes, Queen Letizia once again stole the show with a simple yet stylish look tonight. 

The Spanish monarch, 49, donned a sleeveless top as she and her husband King Felipe VI, 53, at the annual gala organised by the Spanish Olympic Committee in Madrid. 

The mother-of-two cut a smart casual look, pairing the Nina Ricci matching top and skirt with carefully picked jewellery. 

The diner will look back on the achievements of Spain’s athletes at this years Tokyo Olympics aft3er they were postponed due to Covid-19. 

The Spanish delegation won a total of 17 medals at the international sports competition, including three gold ands eight silver medals.

King Felipe VI, who wore a black suit with a red tie, and Letizia, who picked a navy outfit, made a dashing pair 

The Spanish Queen is known for her attention to details when it come to fashion, and tonight, she struck the perfect balance between a modern and classic look. 

She showcased her toned physique with the shimmery sleeveless top and skirt. 

The top had a Peter Pan collar which fitted the festive occasion, with playful sequins catching the light. The fitted skirt was also adorned with sequins. 

She first wore the number during a visit to Capitol Hill in Washington in 2015.   

Letizia picked dazzling jewellery to add some chic flair to the look tonight.  

She was sporting a pair of diamond drop earrings that glinted in the light as well as a a diamond bracelet and several rings, including her signature ring by Karen Hallam. 

The couple appeared to share an animated discussion, with an amused Felipe smiling behind his mask

The annual Spanish Olympic Commitee gala looks back on the sporting events of the year and the personal achievements of Spain’s Olympic committee and competing athletes. 

It has been a week busy with engagements for Letizia, who yesterday travelled to Senegal to o attend the inauguration of the headquarters of the Cervantes Institute in Dakar, Senegal.

The monarch arrived in the west African country last night where she was met by the first lady of the Republic of Senegal, Marie Faye Sall 

The first opened in 1991 and the centres are dedicated to promoting Spanish Language and culture in Spanish speaking countries. 

After opening the centre, the royal toured the multimedia classroom and signed the book of honour.

The Senegal trip was the last international engagement for Her Majesty for 2021, who will soon take a Winter break with her family.  

Letizia met Felipe VI at a dinner party in 2002, and the pair enjoyed an instant connection, leading to their royal wedding in May 2004.  

The former newsreader is the granddaughter of a taxi driver and the eldest daughter of Jesús José Ortiz Álvarez, a journalist, and first wife María de la Paloma Rocasolano Rodríguez, a nurse and hospital union representative.

She attended public high school and did a degree at the Complutense University of Madrid. She later gained an MA in Audiovisual Journalism at the Institute for Studies in Audiovisual Journalism.

King Juan Carlos abdicated in 2014 in favour of his son, now King Felipe VI.
