Star Trek actor William Shatner was welcomed onto Loose Women on Wednesday afternoon. He was chatting on the ITV daytime show about his recent trip to space. However, while detailing his experience, the Canadian actor was cut off by presenter Christine Lampard, who had no choice but to do so, as she revealed they’d run out of time. Many viewers were unhappy about the decision to end the interview and took to Twitter to complain.

Earlier this year, William became the oldest human ever to venture into space.

The experience was an emotional one for the actor who broke down in tears upon landing.

On Wednesday afternoon, the Star Trek legend chatted more about his journey into space on Loose Women.

At the opening of the show, Christine excitedly teased ahead to the interview with William.

“The man who boldly went to space for real earlier this year, Star Trek legend Willam Shatner will be joining us for a chat about his epic journey into the unknown,” she told viewers.

However, when it was time for William’s interview, it didn’t quite go according to plan.

Speaking about what he saw from space, William said: “I looked back and I could see the beige, white, blue of earth. Nurturing earth. The life of earth.

“Then I saw the circumference. I saw a bit of the circumference of earth but it was…” he said before being stopped mid-sentence.

Gloria Hunniford interrupted the actor with a question: “William, I’m going to nip in.

“On that very point, I mean, I’m a bit jealous because I actually would really like to go up into space.

“But, what I wonder is, when you’re up there and you’re looking back at earth, at whatever point that is, what is it that leaves that lasting impact in your brain?

“A lasting memory of something you never thought you’d see. What is that picture?” She asked.

Clearly unimpressed by Gloria’s interruption, William hit back: “That is the strangest thing because I was about to tell you. What a coincidence?

“I was about to tell you that and you asked me that question,” he said, before continuing to describe his experience in space.

Later in the segment, Christine stopped William in his tracks again, this time explaining that they had run out of time.

The presenter said: “William, I’m so sorry William we’re going to have to interrupt you purely because we have to go.

“We would literally talk for the next 30 minutes and maybe we can do just that after this, but thank you for joining us William,” she added.

However, many viewers were angered that William had been cut-off and took to Twitter to complain.

@SallyPrice4 commented: “Extremely rude cut-off to William Shatner. Tut tut! #LooseWomen.”

“Yes, first they interrupted William Shatner then cut him off talking about space FOOLS #LooseWomen,” @liamlcfc88 added.

“Was it really worth William Shatner’s time going on @loosewomen? Barely 5 minutes of an interview and interrupted while he was talking… What he did say was very interesting, but what a waste of time! #LooseWomen,” @HelmicRegulator fumed.

@SophieSharpie said: “William Shatner didn’t look happy at all then to be cut-off during his space talk did he? #LooseWomen.”

@AlanCortes wrote: “Come on William tell us about your journey in space but we haven’t got time for you today wtf? #LooseWomen.”

Loose Women airs weekdays at 12:30pm on ITV.
