  • REPORT: Diogo Jota maintains European hopes with dramatic last-gasp strike

Jurgen Klopp appeared to pull his hamstring as he celebrated Liverpool’s injury time winner against Tottenham.

The Reds raced into a 3-0 lead inside the first 15 minutes at Anfield against a Spurs side who had conceded six on their previous away outing at Newcastle last weekend.

Ryan Mason’s side fought back and thought they’d levelled the game when Richarlison equalised in injury time and thought he’d rescued an unlikely point.

But Liverpool roared straight back and found a winner deep into the added time, as Diogo Jota slotted the winner past Fraser Forster – sending Anfield into delirium and Klopp into wild celebrations on the bench after a 4-3 win was secured.

The German sprinted over to confront the fourth official and cheer in his face – and those celebrations seem to come at a cost, as it looked he may have pulled his hamstring in the midst of his jubilation.

Diogo Jota scored the late late winner that resulted in Klopp’s celebrations and the injury

Having seen Jota cooly seal the victory for Liverpool, Klopp raced up the touchline in wild celebrations.

He then quickly slowed down and could be seen with his hand clutching the back of his left leg.

The apparent muscle tweak come just seconds the 55-year-old had aimed his celebrations at the fourth official, an act that earned Klopp a yellow card for his actions.

At the final whistle Klopp was seen limping down the Anfield tunnel and looks as though he could be an unlikely visitor to the Liverpool treatment room this week.

Speaking on commentary for Sky, Gary Neville couldn’t help but be amused at what he had seen from the Liverpool manager.

‘You look at Klopp, I’m just laughing he’s got a grad two tear in his hamstring from his celebration.’ Neville quipped.

‘I’m sure he’s going to go over to the Kop end and give them a fist pump because the emotion in this ground.

‘They had an absolutely terrible second half Liverpool and I’m sure he’ll rip them to shreds in the dressing room for what they did.

The win sees Liverpool go above Spurs in the Premier League table, two points ahead of them

But they’ve won the game and he’s got control of this football club so he can have a season like he’s had and they’ll forgive him.’

Liverpool took a three minute lead against their rivals for a European place through Curtis Jones, before Luis Diaz and then a Mo Salah penalty put them in a commanding lead, just 15 minutes into the game.

Tottenham got themselves back into the game before half time through Harry Kane, and then Son Heung-min added a second before Richarlison’s late leveller.

However, Jota’s late winner sees the Reds leapfrog Spurs in the Premier League table into 5th place.

Liverpool are now two points better off than Mason’s men, having played a game more.
