Love is in the air as well as on the scoreboard at Wimbledon with the announcement of the mixed doubles pairings at the All England Club this summer.

The first round draw brought the revelation that couple Katie Boulter and Alex de Minaur will team up together, with the Aussie-pair taking on John Peers and Storm Hunter in the first round.

The pair met for the first time in 2020 and have been together ever since, but this is the first time they have teamed up together on the court.

Boulter made a fine start to life in the main draw, making it safely through to the second round.

Meanwhile De Minaur got underway on Thursday morning, taking on Belgium’s Kimmer Coppejans.

Boulter and De Minaur have been together since they first met back in March 2020

De Minaur and Boulter were named in the first round of the mixed doubles draw on Wednesday

Boulter has impressed in the main draw, where she has made the second round

They are not the only partners to cross the white line this summer, with Greek star Stefanos Tsitsipas and his girlfriend Paula Badosa also taking part in the mixed doubles.

They will face top seeds Jessica Pegula and Austin Krajicek in what is a tricky first round draw.

Badosa has not been shy about her relationship with Tsitsipas, bizarrely sharing details about a sex dream she had about him in one of her press conferences.

Badosa, who has been publicly dating Tsitsipas since the French Open, got a fit of the giggles, at least maintaining to stop short of going into key details of her dream.

‘Yeah, well, I was injured in Australia. I watched his match, the final. Of course I had jet lag because I was in Spain. I decided to watch that match,’ she said.

‘Surprising, because I never dream about tennis players, but I dreamt about him that night, that we were both winning Austrlaian Open. Then it was like we were having a very romantic moment, but I’m not going to explain. I’m just going to leave it there. (Laughter).’

Stefanos Tsitsipas and partner Paula Badosa will also compete in the mixed doubles

The pair have practised together on the court, but have never partenered together in competition

Not a usual sight on a tennis court, Eurosport’s Laura Robson spoke on her excitement of seeing couple in action, but admitted it wasn’t something she would be able to do herself.

‘I’m excited to see both of the couples in the mixed doubles draw,’ she said.

‘I think I would struggle to play with my boyfriend purely because you get frustrated if they miss the ball and they probably don’t want to hear any constructive criticism.

‘But I’m sure both of those couples will have talked it through before they head out there and they will hopefully enjoy themselves, you would think.’
