PARIS SAINT-GERMAIN manager Mauricio Pochettino wants his best players to 'form a great team' and win silverware this season.

The French giants have recently signed Barcelona captain Lionel Messi but their talented striker Kylian Mbappe has been linked with Real Madrid.

Mbappe, 22, has just one year left on his existing deal and it's believed Spanish giants Real are considering a £102million offer for the player.

Pochettino will be hoping the World Cup winner stays at PSG, allowing the manager to deploy Mbappe alongside Messi and fellow superstar Neymar.

As quoted by Firstpost, Pochettino said: "Our challenge is for the squad's great names to be able to form a great team on the pitch with discipline and unity. It's very exciting.

"We have to create a dynamic where every player has his place and can feel important. We have the talent – PSG always have – but we also have to have a group and not just for pictures on social media."

PSG are looking to win their maiden Champions League title this season after losing the 2020 final to German side Bayern Munich.

The Parisian club are also desperate to reclaim their Ligue 1 crown after French rivals Lille pipped them to the title last term.

And both of those goals are realistic following the arrival of six-time Ballon d'Or winner Messi, 34, on a free transfer.

PSG have enjoyed an excellent transfer window, also signing Sergio Ramos, Georginio Wijnaldum and Gianluigi Donnarumma on freebies.

And they've brought in highly-rated Inter Milan right-back Achraf Hakimi, beating European champions Chelsea to his signature.

I hope to [play] as soon as possible as I want to play. When the staff decide I can then it will be with great pleasure.

Pochettino, however, seems particularly delighted to have signed Messi, adding: "I see him as happy with incredible energy.

"The whole planet saw Messi arrive. The players have received him superbly – there's a good feeling, good communication.

"I have always admired him. He's one of the greatest players in the world – if not the greatest."
