The moment Dan Spencer (Liam Fox) punched pervert Lloyd Sawyer (Matt Sutton) in Emmerdale, he knew he’d made a huge mistake. As Lloyd fell to the ground unconscious, it was instantly clear that he had serious injuries and he’s been in a coma ever since.
Although Dan told the police that he’d hit Lloyd in self defence, the truth was that he saw red after seeing Lloyd with Amelia (Daisy Campbell). Lloyd had been pestering Amelia online and in person after becoming aware of her online makeup tutorials. He’d frightened her by turning up at the salon and when Dan confronted him about it, Lloyd goaded him.
Now, with Dan facing prison for what he did, there’s huge pressure on both him and Amelia. She feels guilty for bringing Lloyd into their lives, and she’s further shaken in upcoming episodes when she gets a visit from Lloyd’s wife Julie (Emma Stansfield) who tells her that Lloyd won’t ever recover from his injuries and Julie is determined to see the Spencers pay for what happened.

‘She feels awful. She thinks it’s all her fault. If she hadn’t started this social media thing would this have happened?’ Daisy Campbell told us. ‘So that’s playing on her mind. Obviously Dan’s done everything for Amelia, for Esther. She is totally beside herself.’
She seeks out Sarah (Katie Hill) for some company and support, and Sarah comes up with an idea. She suggests that if Amelia lied to the police and said that Lloyd assaulted her, the court might be more sympathetic towards Dan.
Although Sarah very quickly realises it’s a bad idea, Amelia is convinced it’s the best way she can help her dad and she braces herself to make a statement to the police.
Sarah tells Dan and Victoria (Isabel Hodgins) what Amelia’s planning to do, and they head towards the police station hoping they can get there before Amelia makes a huge mistake by lying to the police.
Will they reach her in time?
‘Lying is not like Amelia at all’, Daisy added.
‘With that being said I think she’s absolutely terrified. Especially because we see Amelia rehearsing with Sarah what she’s gonna say, and she totally cracks and starts panicking.
‘But in the back of her mind all she’s thinking about is helping her dad get out of this mess he caused so that’s what I think really pushes Amelia to go through with it. She can’t live without her dad, he’s her rock so that definitely plays in her head when she’s thinking of doing this to protect her dad.’
