Big Sky is a thrilling crime series on ABC and it follows a group of detectives as they track down a serial kidnapper. The series stars Vikings actress Katheryn Winnick as Jenny Hoyt and Kylie Bunbury as Cassie Dewell. The pair were caught up in a tense series finale, which aired on February 16.

How did Part 1 of Big Sky end?

The first nine episodes of Big Sky have now aired, with the series making its debut in November 2020.

Across the episodes, the detectives tried to find out more about Ronald Pergman (Brian Geraghty) – a truck driver at the centre of their investigation.

He led them to Rick Legarski (John Carroll Lynch), a ‘bent’ police officer who was acting as his accomplice.

In the final episode, Rick started having nightmares about the women he had kidnapped for trafficking.

He was heard apologising out loud by his wife Merrilee (Brooke Smith).

Merillee then proceeded to kill Rick with a hammer, having discovered he had planned to kill her.

Cassie and Jenny went to Ronald’s home as he had finally been identified, and they found it rigged with explosives.

Jenny managed to find a body inside and it turned out to be Helen – Ronald’s mother (Valerie Mahaffey).

Ronald was discovered to be on the run, having kidnapped a newspaper boy called Erik (Evan Whitten).

The police caught up with the car he was driving, but he had managed to escape, leaving Erik behind.

When will Big Sky return?

While many fans thought episode nine was the final episode, it was later announced the series would return.

The final seven episodes are due to air from April 13, and they will follow a “new mystery”.

The series was given an episode back order in December 2020, which means a total of 16 episodes will air.

In the meantime, the first half of season one is available to watch online on TV Fanatic.

The second half of the season will not involve the case of the missing girls, but Ronald is likely to be back.

He was last seen driving away in one of his trucks, and fans will be hoping he is finally caught.

A new cast has also been introduced for the second season, and it will feature Michelle Forbes, Ted Levine, Kyle Schmid, Britt Robertson, and Ryan Dorsey.

The show was intended to be a limited series, but due to its success more episodes have been added.

In terms of a second season, fans will have to wait until the remaining episodes have aired to find out more about the show’s future.

The remaining episodes are likely to continue to air weekly on Tuesday evenings.

A promo video for episode 10 has been released and it shows the detectives admitting they let Ronald get away.

But Jenny promises they are not giving up, and the trailer goes on to show Cassie and Jenny in a stand-off with two mystery men.

The new episodes promise “deeper secrets” and “bigger twists”, so there are high hopes for part two.

Commenting on episode nine, one fan said on YouTube: “Best episode yet! So many surprises and twists, finally great TV! Can’t wait to see what the next plot and April brings.”
