Frankie Boyle gives brutal take on Harry and Meghan’s wedding in 2018
On Sunday night, Channel 4 viewers tuned in to watch comedian Frankie Boyle share his strong view towards the royals and King Charles as his Coronation approaches.
Describing the Windsors as Britain’s most “boring crime syndicate”, the 50-year-old demanded it was time to say goodbye to the monarchy.
At the start of the show, he commented: “Let’s raise a bottle to them… filled with petrol and a burning rag.”
Throughout the episode, viewers saw the comedian take a look back at the darker side of the royals’ 1000-year history starting off with William the Conqueror.
Meeting with royal experts, Frankie also looked into the reign of Richard III, Henry VIII, Elizabeth I and Victoria, however, his constant swipes seemed to divide viewers.
Jaythenwhat fumed: “Absolutely vile and shame on channel 4 for giving him airtime.”

G55Stevie reeled: “What a lowlife scumbag Frankie Bawbag really is…..”
However, there were many viewers who enjoyed the episode with some calling the special hilarious.
Tim_A_Roberts tweeted: “The Frankie Boyle take on the Monarchy is absolutely superb. Full of intelligence, wit, and that acid tongue. Make time to watch it. It’s informative and highly educational. Brilliant.”

Free_to_leave commented: “Loved Frankie Boyle ripping into royals this evening on Channel 4 with his programme, Farewell to the Monarchy. I imagine there are already a whole host of red-faced people in complete fankle busy writing letters of complaint.”
coolAngieWalton added: Forgot about Frankie Boyle’s Farewell to the Monarchy last night. Hilarious. The only royal thing I will be watching.”
However, Frankie’s Farewell to the Monarchy isn’t the only time the comedian has sparked outrage with his jokes about the Royal Family as a similar incident happened in 2008.
While on Mock the Week, he made a jibe about Queen Elizabeth II which resulted in him being investigated by the BBC Trust.
On the show, he mimicked the late Queen as he joked: “I’ve had a few medical problems this year. I’m now so old, that my p***y is haunted.”
Although his material was cleared of any misconduct as the committee at the BBC Trust ruled it out.
Similarly, his humour was deemed offensive in 2010 when making fun of former glamour model Katie Price’s eldest son Harvey, who has Prader-Willi syndrome, partial blindness and autism.
At the time, her son was only eight years old when Frankie said in an episode of Channel 4’s Tramodol Nights: “Apparently Jordan [ Katie Price ] and Peter Andre are fighting each other over custody of Harvey. Well, eventually one of them’ll lose and have to keep him.
“I have a theory that Jordan married a cage fighter ’cause she needed someone strong enough to stop Harvey from f***ing her.”
