Tyrone Dobbs (Alan Halsall) has had a turbulent year on Coronation Street, with his affair leading to a pregnancy, a miscarriage and his young lover Alina Pop (Ruxandra Porojnicu) leaving him when she discovered he was still in love with Fiz Stape (Jennie McAlpine). In upcoming scenes on the ITV soap, the mechanic will try his luck with the mother of his daughters as he tries to kiss her on Christmas Day. However, when her new beau Phill (Jamie Kenna) gets wind of what’s been going on, it seems it could be curtains for cobbles icon Tyrone.

What will transpire during the soap’s hour-long Christmas episode is Fiz and the girls will stay in Weatherfield, despite Phill booking a holiday away for them.

Not wanting Hope Stape (Isabella Flanagan) and Ruby Dobbs (Macy Alabi) to be without their father, the mother of two will decide the cobbles is the best place for them.

Although slightly put out, Phill will accept this is what his partner wants and he will try his best to get along with Tyrone.

The mechanic will cross the line, however, when he kisses his former lover whilst her new boyfriend is out of the house.

Chaos will ensue as a fight breaks out on the cobbles, with both men fighting each other as they believe they are the better person for Fiz to be with.

Unfortunately, one thing could lead to another and before they know it, one of them could be lying dead in the middle of the road.

For long-time fans of the show, they could be heartbroken if it’s Tyrone as he has been a staple character on the soap for over 20 years.

It would also be a devastating end to his troubled relationship with Fiz as there would be no chance the couple could ever be together again.

The mother of two would also lose her new boyfriend as he would be arrested and charged with murder for killing the mechanic.

His grandmother Evelyn Plummer (Maureen Lipman) and the other residents of the cobbles would see their lives changed forever without Tyrone’s presence.

Phill can only be pushed for so far

Jamie Kenna

The actors who play Tyrone and Phill, Alan and Jamie respectively, spoke to Express.co.uk and other publications about their characters coming to blows.

Discussing Phill’s reaction to the kiss, Jamie explained: “Yes, he’s not happy. He’s not happy. I think is the first time you’ll see Phill can only be pushed for so far.

“He’s a really nice guy. But yes he’s not happy when he finds out, for sure. I don’t want to say too much. But yes, it’s definitely a turning point.”

With the character having showcased a nice guy persona since his arrival on the cobbles earlier this year, the soap star could be hinting viewers will see another side of his alter-ego.

As there have been so many killers on the show in the past, Phill could be another name added to the ever-growing list.

Talking more about the altercation between the two men, Alan added: “It’s fisty cuffs in Marigolds I think is the best way to describe it.

“It’s pretty much classic Coronation Street, really and the two guys have got stuff to settle between the two of them.

“They don’t want to do it in the regular way of having a proper fight. So let’s just say there are all sorts of things used in the fight.”

Even if someone doesn’t die on Christmas Day, as the storyline seeps into the New Year, Tyrone could find himself in great danger.

As Phill now knows the mechanic wants Fiz back, he could do everything in his power to make sure the pair never get back together.

It could be a case of if Phill cannot have Fiz, no one can have her and with Tyrone being his biggest love rival, he might resort to killing him.

Discussing what it was like to film the fight scene, Alan said: “It was fun because off-screen, we get on so well.

“And we really wanted to milk this and so did the director who had been working with us previously and we were really game for that.

“There were obvious height differences and we made that part of the fight. There are all sorts going on and hopefully, it will put a smile on people’s faces.”

Jamie added: “We had so much fun. Sometimes things come along and you can waste an opportunity but we didn’t waste this.”

Asked who they think Fiz should ultimately be with, Jamie replied: “It’s a really tricky one that but Phill, obviously.

“He wines and dines her. He looks after her and he adores the kids but Phill thinks he can’t see what they can’t both be in her life.

“It’s fine for Tyrone [to be there]. He likes Tyrone but Phill [is the one man Fiz should really be with],” he added.

Alan said: “Well Fiz should be with Phill for a while, at least until Tyrone gets his act together. But I think Tyrone and Fiz, even the two names go well together.

“But this is a soap opera. It could go anywhere so we will just have to wait and see.”

Coronation Street airs Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 7:30pm and 8:30pm on ITV.
