Emmerdale star reveals how Sarah becomes embroiled in killer Meena story

Meena Jutla (Paige Sandhu) is forcing her horror onto the lives of many Emmerdale residents and Sarah Sugden is the latest to be impacted by Leanna Cavanagh’s death as she starts questioning her own mortality.

Sarah has faced death on a number of occasions due to her ill health and the demise of Leanna again hits her with the realisation that death can happen in an instant.

Katie Hill, who plays her, told Metro.co.uk: ‘I think Leanna’s death definitely has an impact on Sarah and leaves her worrying about her own life and how something like this could happen to her.

‘After all that has been going on around Sarah, it makes her very aware of her own life expectancy.

‘She then becomes very interested in finding the family of the person who gave her a second chance at life, she is hoping to track down her donor’s family to meet up with them to thank them and find out about her donor.’

So did the Meena story come as a shock to Katie? You betcha!

She shared: ‘When I heard about the Meena storyline I was shocked as it’s a massive storyline and I just wasn’t expecting it! I’ve watched some of it on screen and I think Paige is doing amazing and I’m excited to see where the storyline goes.

‘Well as the audience will see Leanna’s death has really affected Sarah which has made her think very deeply about her own life expectancy – which then takes her on her own journey this summer…’

The young cast have been central to huge stories this year – and Katie couldn’t be more proud to be a part of it.

She enthused: ‘All the younger cast members are all so talented! I think this year the teens have really made their mark in the Dales and they have all been amazing in their storylines!

‘I feel so lucky to say I’m a part of the Emmerdale cast.’
