I'm A Celebrity 2021 latest: Richard Madeley 'livid' over being forced to quit I’m A Celebrity after hospital dash

I’M A Celebrity star Richard Madeley has QUIT the show after he was rushed to hospital in the middle of the night after falling ill.

The TV presenter had a medical emergency that left stars terrified and saw medics scramble to Gwrych Castle, where the show is filmed.

But on Thursday afternoon, the GMB and former This Morning host revealed he had been forced to quit the show – because he left the group's strict Covid bubble.

In a statement, the star confirmed he was well, saying: "Richard here – firstly just to say that I’m absolutely FINE. I started to feel briefly unwell in the small hours of the morning and was taken to hospital as a precaution.

By leaving the camp, I had consequently broken the Covid ‘bubble’ and as such I’ve had to leave the castle and all the wonderful celebs that remain in the camp.

"Obviously I’m gutted to be leaving so soon but the safety of all the campmates is the number one priority. I’m incredibly excited to watch their journey continue…even more so at the prospect of being somewhere a little warmer than Gwrych Castle."

Richard Madeley to get paid all his £200,000 fee

Madeley will get paid his full £200,000 I'm A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! fee, despite leaving after just four days.

The 65-year-old star was forced out of the ITV reality show today after he was rushed to hospital in the early hours of this morning.

Though the TV favourite was fit enough to return to camp, he was unable to because the hospital visit had broken the show's secure Covid bubble.

But because he left for medical reasons, he is likely to keep the fee.

A spokesperson for I'm A Celeb declined to comment when approached by The Sun.

Richard left stars and production staff terrified with his health scare today – which saw medics rush to Gwrych Castle, where the ITV show is filmed.

Corrie: Steve McDonald was Simon Gregson's FIRST ever acting job

Simon says Steve McDonald is just a version of himself after he joined the cast aged just 17.

He admitted: "I had no idea what I was doing when I joined the show. I'd never acted. I kind of learned on the job.

"And as the decades rolled by, I thought, 'Well, the simplest way to do this is maybe just say it like you mean it and be maybe a more exaggerated me'.

"Obviously, the big differences are, I probably wouldn't do half the things that that idiot does and he probably wouldn't do half the things that I do.

"It would be nice for people to see that I've probably got a modicum of more intelligence than Steve. I believe myself to be extremely blessed with where I work.

"I love everybody there and they pretty much pay me just to go in and mess around all day and I just laugh from the minute I go until the minute I leave.

"I've grown up with pretty much everybody there since I was a kid, so it's a very, very good place to work and I've no plans to leave.

"No. Not at all. It's a job for life. Can't see why not."

"So I'm just going into it with the philosophy of, 'Don't worry worry, til worry worries you'. Kind of like Winnie-the-Pooh.

"I look a bit like Winnie-the-Pooh, so I'm going to act like him while I'm in there, hopefully."
