Jeopardy! is currently airing episodes with a slate of guest hosts in the wake of Alex Trebek’s death. GOAT Ken Jennings just finished up his six-week stint.
Currently, executive producer Mike Richards is serving as host because they had trouble getting their scheduled guest hosts into the Los Angeles studio during COVID.
But very soon, more celebrity hosts will be making an appearance. Including Green Bay Packers quarterback and NFL MVP Aaron Rodgers.
Aaron Rodgers is making big headlines professionally and personally ahead of his ‘Jeopardy!’ gig
In early February, the NFL named Rodgers their MVP for the 2020 season. It was the third time he had won the coveted trophy. But his acceptance speech had everyone talking about something other than football.
“It’s an honor to win this award for the third time. 2020 was definitely a crazy year filled with lots of change and growth, some amazing memorable moments. 180 straight days of having my nose hair scraped, playing for very little fans or no stands the entire season,” Rodgers said, before adding “I got engaged.”
Later, while thanking the “great group of people that support me,” Rodgers included “my fiancée.” But, he didn’t mention any names. It wasn’t until later that Rodgers’ fiancée was confirmed to be 29-year-old actress Shailene Woodley.
Aaron Rodgers and Shailene Woodley have been engaged ‘for awhile’
The news of Rodgers and Woodley’s engagement was quite the shock for some fans. Up until last summer, Rodgers was in a relationship with Danica Patrick. According to sports gossip site Terez Owens, it was actually Woodley who broke up that relationship.
“Danica had no idea when she introduced actress Shailene Woodley to Aaron that Shailene would make a play for him,” an insider dished.
When Rodgers and Patrick called it quits in July 2020, it seems like he quickly moved on to Woodley. The Big Little Lies star appeared to confirm this during an appearance on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon.
“So it’s kind of funny. Everybody right now is freaking out over it and we’re like, ‘Yeah, we’ve been engaged for awhile,” Woodley said. “He’s, first off, just a wonderful, incredible human being. But I never thought I’d be engaged with somebody who threw balls for a living.”
Shailene Woodley has zero knowledge of American sports
Despite being from California, Woodley told Fallon that she didn’t grow up with American sports. She says it was never on her radar. So when she met Rodgers, she had no idea how great of a football player he was.
The actor explained that when she met her future husband, it was during a “whacky, whacky time and all of the stadiums were closed that he was playing in.” Even though they are engaged, Woodley says she has not yet been to any of Rodgers’ games.
“When we met, also, I knew he was a football guy, but I didn’t know, like, what kind of a football guy he was. And I’m still constantly learning,” Woodley told Fallon.
When will the Green Bay Packers QB host ‘Jeopardy!’?
Before Rodgers made headlines with his MVP and engagement news, he revealed on the Pat McAfee Show that he was going to be a guest host on Jeopardy!. The QB said that Trebek was one of his idols growing up, and he was excited about the opportunity.
Rodgers appeared as a contestant back in 2015 and won $50,000 for the MACC Fund (Midwest Athletes Against Childhood Cancer).
According to Pop Culture, Rodgers will begin his guest-hosting duties on April 5. He will host ten episodes over the course of two weeks. The QB will be following Katie Couric, who begins on March 8, and Dr. Oz, who starts on March 22.
Other Jeopardy! guest hosts include Anderson Cooper, Savannah Guthrie, Dr. Sanjay Gupta, Bill Whitaker and Mayim Bialik.
Jeopardy! airs weekdays in syndication.
