Strictly: Katya Jones cries and calls Ed Balls a ‘father figure’

Katya Jones took a look back at her time on Strictly Come Dancing so far on Monday night’s episode of It Takes Two. The dancer detailed some of the highs and lows of her journey on the BBC show. She opened up about her first partner on the show, former politician Ed Balls. While speaking about her relationship with Ed, Katya began to break down.

Back in 2016 Katya was partnered with Ed and the dance duo came in sixth place.

Looking back on her Strictly experience with Ed, Katya confessed their exit from the competition was emotional.

She explained: “Week 10 we did our Tango and unfortunately it was the end of our journey.”

Becoming tearful, the dancer said: “I just remember, even now, how emotional it was because it didn’t matter how far we got, we’re still friends.

“He’s literally my father figure here in England. He’s a friend for life who I can call at any moment.”
