Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins returned to Channel 4 on Sunday night for the second instalment of the latest series. Despite overcoming gruelling challenges in the first episode, singer Kerry Katona decided enough was enough in episode two, making her the first celebrity to quit the series.

Kerry Katona and her fellow celebrity contestants were ordered to complete 50 push-ups as part of the second episode of Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins by chief instructor, and former soldier, Ant Middleton.

Despite her best efforts, Kerry appeared as the weak link of the team to Ant, and he yelled at her to get off her knees and do proper push-ups like the other celebrities.

“You haven’t even done 10 press-ups”, Ant shouted at Kerry, who was visibly fatigued.

“If you don’t want to be here, stand up, I don’t want to hear you moaning on my parade square.”

The mum-of-five then sprung up and ripped her armband off to give to Ant, which made it clear to him that she wanted to quit the show.

When she handed Ant the armband, he asked: “Are you sure you want to be doing this?”

Without hesitating, Kerry said yes, and walked out of the parade square.

Her fellow contestants carried on with their many push-ups without having the chance to say goodbye to Kerry, who appeared to be well-liked by the famous recruits.

Kerry was then taken into the interrogation room, where she was quizzed about her decision to throw in the towel so early on into the series.

She said: “I know I have done the right thing. It’s been amazing, I have actually loved it.

“I’ve never looked at myself as a failure, but you kick yourself when you can’t do something.

“I might not have been the first, and I was always last, but I got from bottom to top and went from top to bottom in my own time.”

Viewers of the show were quick to comment on Kerry’s exit on Twitter, with one SAS fan saying: “Watching Kerry on [Celebrity] SAS: Who Dares Wins.

“[I] thought she might stick at it but could clearly see she wasn’t in the right mind to do it.”

Another added: “#KerryKatona seems to have this reputation for quitting things very early…. #ImACelebrity is the only thing she ever managed to complete.”

Kerry, who has starred in a host of reality television shows following her time performing in the pop group Atomic Kitten, won ITV’s I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here! in 2004.

She was the first woman to be crowned Queen of the Jungle.

Some fans of Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins sympathised with Kerry’s decision to quit during the push-up challenge.

One viewer tweeted: “Kerry Katona quitting after two push-ups is iconic #CelebritySAS.”

Another said: “[I’ll] always have a soft spot for Kerry Katona. She’s been through so much and still remains so happy and positive.”

Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins continues of Channel 4 next Sunday at 9pm.
