Lorraine Kelly forced to hit back at troll after revealing PTSD diagnosis | The Sun

LORRAINE Kelly has been forced to hit back at a troll after revealing her PTSD diagnosis.

The TV presenter opens up about her condition in her new documentary titled Return To Lockerbie With Lorraine Kelly which airs Wednesday on ITV.

The documentary will see Lorraine, who was one of the first journalists to arrive at the scene, return to the place where the Lockerbie Bombing terror attack took place.

But after returning to the town 35 years later, the TV host unlocked undiagnosed PTSD.

Lorraine was a young reporter at the time when a bomb planted on Pan Am Flight 103 crashed in Lockerbie on December 21, 1998.

The plane exploded mid-air, killing 259 people on board and 11 on the ground.

Lorraine rushed to the scene where she was met with the devastating aftermath and has since experienced flashbacks and nightmares.

Following an Interview with The Telegraph where she opened up about her PTSD from the tragic event, many people took to X, formerly Twitter, to share their opinions.

While the large majority of tweets have been encouraging, the TV star received one comment from a troll who claimed to be sceptical of her diagnosis.

They wrote: "Well, just think of what it did to the people were actually working on the recovery and collection of human remains. Think about the destruction in Lockerbie. PTS really!?"

Lorraine decided to call out the commenter and replied: "That's exactly the point. I always (and still do) feel I've no right to have suffered any sort of trauma compared with the bereaved, the first responders and the people of Lockerbie.

"I was only a reporter. But in the doco I learned PTSD is a normal response, I'm fine. I'm lucky."

The post received a rush of support from fans, with one writing: "Appalled at the folk without empathy or compassion who think it is ok to be so cruel in their comments."

A second said: "I'm not surprised at all Lorraine. There are some things as a journalist you can't just shake off. Completely valid and absolutely understandable."

"Sadly everyone involved with this terrible event suffered. I know this as I have worked and supported some," A third commented.

Return To Lockerbie With Lorraine Kelly is on ITV1 & ITVX at 9 pm on Wednesday, November 15.
