Mighty Ducks star Shaun Weiss celebrates 1 year sober after meth addiction battle

SHAUN Weiss celebrates one year of sobriety from his methamphetamine addiction and appears unrecognizable in his transformation photos.

The Mighty Ducks actor has reached a huge breakthrough in his fight against drug addiction, as he celebrates one year off of meth.

Shaun, 42, hit a downward spiral the last few years when his drug abuse hit an all-time high, leading to a series of arrests.

The child star played Greg Goldberg in the 1992 Disney film, and also had a reoccurring role on the NBC dramedy Freaks and Geeks.

In 2017, the addict was sentenced to 150 days in jail for petty theft but only served 12 until he was released.

He was arrested again just five days later for possession of methamphetamine in Burbank, California.

After serving 90 days, Shaun was locked up just a year later in August of 2018 for public intoxication, leading him to check into rehab after his sentence.

Around that time, the ex-actor shared to Facebook that he felt his life had hit "below rock bottom”, and that without receiving help his "life was in imminent danger."

His final arrest came in January of 2020, when he was caught breaking into a home while high on methamphetamine.

Shaun reportedly busted into a man’s garage in Van Nuys, California, and smashed his car windshield at 7 am, according to the Marysville Police Department.

“Officers noticed shattered glass on the ground and observed that the passenger window to the vehicle was broken,” the report read.

This was the final straw for the Disney Channel actor, who checked into a rehab facility in March of 2020.

Since the Covid pandemic began, Shaun has been residing in a sober living facility in California and is now 365 days without usage.

The Heavyweights star has had ample support from his close friend Drew Gallagher, who has helped care for the suffering addict throughout his journey to sobriety.

Drew explained his pal's condition to PEOPLE, saying: "There’s not a blameless Shaun Weiss here, he is definitely to blame for a lot of stupid s**t he does."

But he clarified: "If you were to spend any time with him you would have a drastically more compassionate understanding of what he was about.

“He’s sick, he’s mentally ill. He’s just sick and everybody gives up on him."

Drew told TMZ that his buddy delayed his Christmas celebration so that he could open presents on his anniversary of sobriety.

After entering into serious rehabilitation, Drew started a GoFundMe campaign for Shaun, raising over $13,000 to repair the damage the meth caused to his teeth.

Following his veneer surgery in August of 2020, the celebrity shared a photo of his new smile, a drastic change from his incarceration nine months before.

Shaun's dentist Dr. Gabe Rosenthal reportedly volunteered to help Shaun pay for the new teeth, as the procedure cost between $50,000 and $100,000.

“His smile definitely gave him a pep in his step. He was definitely doing well on his own, but he was sort of downtrodden without that smile,” the doctor shared following the surgery.

“Now he’s starting to do appearances again.”
