Serena exits Hollyoaks after reporting brother Mason to the police

Serena Chen-Williams (Emma Lau) made a huge decision in Hollyoaks in the wake of recent events, deciding to leave the family home, unable to live under the same roof as Mason (Frank Kauer).

Mason, as viewers know, was radicalised by incel Eric Foster (Angus Castle-Doughty), who manipulated and brainwashed him into saying and doing misogynistic things.

Serena found out what her brother had been up to earlier this week, shortly after she had been taken hostage by Eric in The Dog, and she struggled to process the news, telling Mason he shouldn’t be anywhere near women.

Honour (Vera Chok) and Dave (Dominic Power) refused to hand Mason’s laptop, which contained evidence of his misogynistic posts on the men’s forum, into the police, much to Serena’s horror, but Thursday’s (January 12) edition of the serial drama saw Serena do just that.

Mason was subsequently charged for what he did to Leah Barnes (Ela-May Demircan), commenting that he’s now a criminal. Serena, meanwhile, ordered Honour and Dave to choose between her and Mason, as she said that she couldn’t live like this any longer.

Lizzie (Lily Best) offered her some words of support, making Serena realise that it wasn’t a fair request to ask of her parents, and thus she later told them that she wouldn’t make them choose between their children.

After a heartfelt hug with mum Honour, in which she told her that she loves her, Serena grabbed her suitcase and left the Chen-Williams household.

Metro.co.uk can confirm that Serena has left the village, with Emma Lau having filmed her final scenes for the show.

Emma confirmed her goodbye in a video shared with us, as she reflected on her time in the Channel 4 soap, branding it an ‘honour.’

‘I’ve been incredibly gifted with the role of Serena’, she said. ‘I’ve got to play to characters in one. Serena the serious athlete and Galaxy the wild party girl!

‘It’s been such a joy.’

Hollyoaks continues Friday January 12 at 7pm on E4, or stream the next episode from midnight on All4.
