The Chase is known to cause a surge in emotions across the team, but two players' reaction to a win this evening left viewers doing a double-take.

Bradley Walsh hosted the repeated episode, with four hopefuls trying their best to take down the Vixen and bring home some dosh.

However, when two of the players shared a celebratory kiss, viewers couldn't help but express their amusement.

Drama teacher Zoe congratulated her teammate Ash with a peck on the cheek when he made it back to the team after facing Jenny 'The Vixen' Ryan.

And later, when Zoe managed to return to the team with money in hand, Ash appeared to return the chaste peck.

Taking to Twitter, viewers expressed their surprise over the affectionate reaction to the win, in an episode that had been recorded in pre-Covid times.

One wrote: "Ash practically jumped out of his seat to give her a kiss on the cheek!"

"A kiss for Zoe there," added a second, and a third chimed: "Not Ash going in for the kiss!"

During Zoe's turn, she discussed her plan to spend her winnings with host Bradley, revealing she had high hopes to renovate her house.

The Windsor-based teacher explained she had moved home last year, but with the frenzy of welcoming her first child, she had yet to get around to redecorating the place.

"We’ve got some pretty rotten window frames," she admitted.

Brad quizzed Zoe about her newborn baby, whose name was Rex, as the new mum explained: "I haven’t had a huge amount of time for relaxing in the last year because I’ve had a baby."

The drama whizz added she had tied the knot with her husband last month, with the pair jetting away for a brief honeymoon before returning home to their son.

"It was a short but sweet honeymoon," she added.

While Chaser Jenny admired Zoe's sense of humour, she was less than impressed by her quizzing skills, and couldn't help but take a swipe when she stepped up to the podium.

"Hello drama queen Zoe," she mused, adding: "You’re equally good at comedy and tragedy."

Ash, Zoe and fellow teammate Sam made it through to the final with a combined sum of £10,000, hoping to defeat the Chaser.

Sadly, like many before them, the trio lost to Jenny's spectacular wealth of general knowledge – going home with empty pockets.

The Chase airs on weekdays at 5pm on ITV.
