Darragh Ennis returned to The Chase on Tuesday to battle it out with a host of contestants as the newest member of the ITV show family. The Chaser was on brilliant form but host Bradley Walsh was left stunned when Darragh criticised his own quizzing skills as he “kicked” himself for getting a question wrong despite knowing the correct answer.
First up to face the Chaser was Karl who earned £5,000 in his cash builder round but was subsequently beaten by Darragh.
Susan was the next contestant to take on the newest Chaser and was desperate to add her £3,000 to the jackpot prize.
The contestant struggled at first and Darragh was just one step away from Susan before making a huge blunder.
Bradley asked: “In Greek myth and legend which woman is upheld as the symbol of a faithful wife?”

The options were Penelope, Pandora and Philomela with Susan opting for the first.
She was correct despite admitting that she “didn’t know” the answer.
It was then Bradley’s turn to reveal whether or not Darragh had answered the question correctly, and to the surprise of the contestants, he answered incorrectly with Philomela.
“I’m kicking myself because as soon as I pressed the button I remembered who Penelope was,” the Chaser explained.
“She’s Odysseus’ wife and she waited for him for years for him to come back from [the Trojan War].”
Darragh’s luck didn’t get much better as Susan continued to expand her gap away from the Chaser.
Bradley asked: “Which English actor has starred on TV in ‘The Wire,’ ‘The Hour’ and ‘The Affair?’”
Susan correctly answered with Dominic West while Darragh mistakenly opted for Idris Elba.

The contestant went on to secure her spot in the final but unfortunately for the team Darragh’s luck improved.
Third player Charlene missed out on progressing in the quiz show before Duncan scraped through into the final round.
Susan and Duncan scored just 13 in the final Chase and the Chaser comfortably beat the pair with a minute remaining.
The Chase fans were thrilled to see the newest Chaser maintain his winning streak on the quiz show and took to Twitter to comment.

The Chase airs weekdays on ITV at 5pm.
