Following the season finale of critically acclaimed thriller The Last of Us, HBO confirmed a second season of the action-pact survival drama is on its way. Despite the good news of season two, Bella Ramsey, who plays Ellie, revealed it “will be a while” before the drama is back on fans’ screens.
During a recent appearance on The Jonathan Ross Show this week, Ramsey lifted the lid on all things The Last of Us.
She featured alongside fellow actor Liam Neeson, presenter Mel Giedroyx and comedian Munya Chawawa.
When speaking to host Jonathan about when viewers can expect a new series of The Last of Us, Ramsey didn’t give fans the answer they wanted to hear.
The actor said: “It will be a while. I think we’ll probably shoot at the end of this year, beginning of next. So it’ll probably be the end of 2024, early 2025.”
The Game of Thrones star was then asked about her friendship with her fellow co-star Pedro Pascal, who plays Joel Miller in HBO’s thriller.
Ramsey replied: “It’s very real. Imagine if it was all fake? I love him. I miss him. He’s in Los Angeles living his best life.
“Mandalorian has just come out so he’s really busy. We were both on Game of Thrones but in different seasons,” they added.
Ramsey recently shared her admiration for co-star Pascal in a sweet post on Instagram.

Ramsey and Pascal were seen posing beside one another as they stood in front of a gloomy forest, presumably on the set of The Last of Us.
Another picture showed a behind-the-scenes glimpse, as the pair sat in a car surrounded by a blue screen.
The actor captioned the snap: “Ep9. “I’ll follow you anywhere you go.”
The sweet post sent fans into a frenzy as they shared their love for the zombie-fighting duo.
One fan @zoeyispunk wrote: “I’ll literally cry rn i love you guys so much”.
While @Helenstills added: “I miss both you guys. Two of the absolute best”.
@ashley.94__ commented: “literally the best people to be cast for this role. no one could do it better than you two”
@callie.mackenzie said: “Bella tell Craig and the team on behalf of all of us that we want like 5 more seasons of Joel and Ellie good times before you uhhh…pick up the start of the plot of the second game”.
A fifth @tamartieleman echoed: “I highly appreciate you both doing this amazing show, but what am I supposed to do with my life for the next.. year?”
While @minhosshank commented: “You’re both absolute LEGENDS. I admire your acting skills so much, Bella. You’re truly inspiring and one of the most talented actors I’ve seen.
“You have such raw talent. Your acting seems so real that it just shocks the hell out of me. SO proud of your accomplishments and that I’ve gotten to see you progress in your acting journey through the years”.
Although season two of The Last of Us has been confirmed, a release date is still being kept under wraps.
The Last of Us Part II game does feature both Joel and Ellie, so viewers could expect to see the return of Pascal and Ramsey in those roles.
The Last of Us is currently streaming on NowTV or Sky Atlantic in the UK.
