The Young and the Restless is no stranger to setting the stage in daytime drama, making its appearance on many TV screens since its premiere in the ’70s. It has addressed everything from social issues, social class conflicts, and sexuality to love, rivalries, and success. However, the most enticing interests in soap operas are the couples who have made a tremendous impression on all the show’s fans.
In Young and the Restless, those couples include Adam and Chelsea, Hilary and Devon, Sharon and Dylan, Nikki and Victor, and many more. Most recently, fans are all for Chance and Abby’s relationship, especially since making their plans to have a baby. Fans are hoping it works out, but there are many concerns about fertility entering the topic!
Chance and Abby’s relationship and their plans for having a baby
Since their love began sparking around the time of Phyllis’s flirtatious efforts toward Chance, the ‘Chabs’ relationship has been quickly developing into one that has high fan-approval. Fans have seen Abby hurt too many times in past relationships – Arturo, Daniel, Carmine, Alex, Tyler, Austin, Dr. Ben, Zack – and are ready to see her be truly happy with Chance. Most recently, Chance admitted to wanting to start a family with Abby, who hesitated but eventually jumped on board.
According to Inquisitr, Josh Griffith, Y&R head writer and co-executive producer, teases that “Abby is overjoyed when Chance proposes. While it’s not unexpected that she and Chance would move forward with their relationship, the proposal itself is still a surprise. Chance is deeply in love with Abby and wants nothing more than for them to share a lifetime of happiness together.” On the other hand, “Despite Abby and Chance’s best intentions, their happiness will be short-lived, thanks to more Newman family drama.”
Fans on Twitter are hoping it will work out for them
Despite the looming issues in Chance and Abby’s relationship, Young and the Restless fans are still holding onto hope that all goes well for the couple. Some are too scared to have any hope for the relationship and their family potentially growing, but there are still a few who remain confident in the couple’s future.
Twitter users respond to Chance’s gift to Abby, saying that they hope the pair will be able to have kids with little problem. Other fans expressed distaste for Chance’s name suggestion of Agatha, but fans are overwhelmingly in agreement they can’t wait for the two to have a baby, but they know there might be issues getting there.
Fans are fearing fertility issues
Fans have also been quick to jump on the YouTube clip with Abby talking about the incredible future ahead of them, including “the babies we will have.” While many express their hope for Abby after much heartbreak and their commitment to seeing this couple’s relationship evolve some more in the coming years, others voice their concern for doom and tragedy.
One fan on YouTube wrote, “They mention future children every other sentence since she agreed to it, I feel like something is going to completely crush that dream.” They aren’t the only ones, as other fans say, “I love Abby and Chance, but because they keep mentioning children, I know that she’s not going to be able to get pregnant. That’s how soaps roll with the foreshadowing.” Another voices other concerns like “I hope [Chance] does not get killed off, but we know how the soaps go.”
It isn’t abnormal for soap operas to put an end to relationships that are thriving. In fact, in most cases, those are the ones that are the quickest to fall victim to horrible tragedies and difficult situations. Nonetheless, fans are holding onto hope for Chance and Abby!
