Katheryn Winnick’s time as the shield-maiden Lagertha came to a tragic end at the start of 2020 during the climactic sixth season of History’s Vikings. With the series finally wrapped up on Amazon Prime Video and Winnick’s new series, Big Sky, returning to Star on Disney+ this week, the acclaimed TV star took to Instagram to confirm she’ll be swinging by Jimmy Kimmel Live on ABC this Tuesday.

Big Sky and Vikings star Katheryn Winnick thrilled her 5.3 million followers this week by confirming her upcoming appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live on Tuesday, April 13.

The Canadian actress currently stars as detective Jenny Hoyt on ABC’s Big Sky, which is also set to return on Tuesday.

Winnick captioned her post: “This Tuesday April 13th, Jimmy Kimmel Live! Excited to see you!”

The actress first received international attention for her portrayal of the legendary shield-maiden, Lagertha, for almost the entirety of Vikings’ six seasons.

Her latest announcement was met with excited responses from her Instagram followers, including a number of former co-stars from the popular historical drama.

British actress Georgia Hirst, best known as fellow shield-maiden Torvi, sent Winnick a particularly heartfelt message in the comments.

The actress’s long term co-star initially responded simply: “OMGGG.”

She later added: “Still not over this. So proud. in awe of you. Xxxx @katherynwinnick.”

Hirst became a pivotal member of the Vikings ensemble when Torvi was first introduced in season two.

Torvi eventually outlived her mother-in-law, Lagertha, and ended the series having travelled to America with her husband, Ubbe (Jordan Patrick Smith).

Former Vikings star Peter Franzén also swung by to congratulate Katheryn Winnick for landing a spot on the popular talk show.

Winnick also received enthusiastic responses from a number of her Big Sky co-stars.

Jesse James Keitel, known as Jerrie Kennedy in the new detective drama, replied: “Gag. Go off!!!”

Plus, Yellowstone’s Michaela Conlin and The Walking Dead’s Michael Raymond-James also showed their appreciation for Winnick’s latest news.

Meanwhile, Winnick’s most recent Instagram post and Stories gave shout-outs to her two brothers and sister for World Sibling Day.

Having starred alongside Travis Fimmel and Alexander Ludwig on Vikings for almost eight years, the actress went straight into another leading role for ABC’s Big Sky.

Winnick stars as Jenny Hoyt in the new drama, a detective tasked with tracking down two teenage girls who are kidnapped in Montana.

The instant smash hit series wrapped up the first nine episodes of season one back in February, and will finally return to ABC and Star on Tuesday.

It was announced that the series would return for its final seven episodes and a ‘new mystery’ in April, but Big Sky’s strong ratings have raised hopes that Winnick will also be back for a second season.

Vikings season 1-6 are available to stream on Amazon Prime Video.
