WAYNE Bridge admits he will be voting for wife Frankie to do every I’m A Celeb trial, laughing: “It’s not that I want to see her suffer exactly, but . . .”

The former Chelsea footballer, 41, was a contestant himself in 2016 and says he’s sure Frankie voted for him to do the trials — and is determined to get his own back.

And he said he would love to see The Saturdays singer, 32, take on the notorious eating trial after she gagged on ketchup when he staged a mini-version at home.

Wayne said: “I’ll be voting for Frankie to do every single challenge, don’t you worry. Not that I want her to suffer, but I think it’ll be really entertaining. I want to see her reaction, I think it will be brilliant.

"I’m sure she would have voted for me to do jungle trials. The last thing you want is to go in there and not do challenges. And I think Frankie is going to be a lot better than she thinks.

“But I think she’ll struggle with the eating trial. We did a little one for her here, and I gave her ketchup, which she hates. She was retching afterwards and then was almost sick.

“Then there was Nesquik powder, which she spat out, and chocolate custard, which she hated. I do think she’ll give anything a go though. And she will find the thought of returning to camp ­empty-handed unbearable. I know she would hate that.”

Wayne finished fifth when he appeared on the ITV show, ­narrowly missing out on the final, which saw Scarlett Moffatt crowned Queen of the Jungle.

'Not a worry in the world'

But he found himself in trouble with Loose Women star Frankie on his exit for talking about their relationship. She told him afterwards: “I could have killed you!”

However, Wayne insisted he has “not a worry in the world” about Frankie opening up to her ­campmates in the castle. He said: “Frankie can say what she wants, and I’m sure she will. Being honest, if anyone was to worry about what one of us would say, it would definitely be me and not her.”

The former England international and Southampton full-back added: “What I’m going to miss the most is her being around. I hope people see she can be really funny — she can take the p*** out of herself.

“She’s such a nice person, she laughs a lot. She can always pick me up when I’m having a bit of a down moment, which is great. We’re a really close family so we don’t spend a lot of time apart. She’ going to be massively missed.”

While Frankie is braving it in the I’m A Celeb castle in Abergele, Conwy, Wayne has been left in charge of the couple’s sons Parker, seven, and ­Carter, five.

And while he is managing “all right” so far thanks to a very detailed calendar, he admits the boys are already “running riot” in her absence.

He said: “I always appreciate Frankie, but it’s only been a week, and what I will really appreciate is having her back to help with the kids. The problem is, the boys know how to run riot around me. I’m under a lot of pressure to ­capture plenty of videos and images from all the activities the boys do while she is away.

“If I tell them off, they know they can make me laugh and it goes out of the window. And I am rubbish at bedtime.

"The evenings go so quick after school — you do the homework, make dinner, play for a bit and it’s past bedtime and they haven’t even had baths yet. Then I put the boys to bed and 20 minutes later I hear noises and they’re destroying the beds with a pillow fight.

"Bedtime is when they miss Mummy the most, so I don’t mind if they end up in bed with me. They already do that most of the time, anyway.” Before Frankie went into quarantine last month, she and Wayne spent a few days on holiday with Parker, Carter and dog Turbo.

And after an emotional goodbye, Wayne told how the toughest test for Frankie will be the three-week separation from their sons. But he believes she can overcome the difficult times and be crowned Queen of the Castle.

He said: “I’d love to say she will struggle the most being away from me, but it will be the kids. Part of the reason she wanted to do the show this year was that it is in Wales, and so she could get back quicker if she needed to.

'I want her to enjoy herself'

“We had a lovely time in the days before she went into quarantine — we all went up to Wales and had lots of muddy walks, watching movies and cuddles.

“It was hard to say goodbye, because once one of you starts ­crying, you all go. But I’ve told her not to worry about me and the boys, because they will be fine — I’ve got this.

“I want her to enjoy herself. Hard as it is, it is such a great experience. And the boys can’t wait to watch her in the jungle. Parker is a bit more like me, he misses Mummy but can’t wait to see her surrounded with spiders and snakes.

“Carter is a bit more worried. They both want to see her crowned Queen of the Castle, but he is just hoping she can do it without a ­single challenge, while Parker will be handing me the phone.”

Wayne added: “I do think she can win the show. I think she’s going to be brilliant. I’m always telling her she is far tougher than she thinks she is. If I could give her one last pep talk now, I’d keep it short and sweet and say: ‘Don’t overthink it, enjoy it, be yourself, we’ll be fine.’

“But I’d also tell her to make sure that she gets further in the show than I did back in 2016, because otherwise I’ll be going on about it forever. She will never hear the end of it.”
