Mrs Tatum, with her husband Mike, said after the rescue a veterinarian told them that Sid would have died if he had been in the pool a few seconds longer
Home security footage revealed a frantic Mrs Tatum desperately breaking the ice as she wades across the pool trying to find Sid underneath.
She can’t locate him at first so hops out of the pool and runs round its perimeter to try and get eyes on the trapped dog.
Eventually she spots him and jumps straight back into the pool and breaks more ice before she is able to reach Sid and lift him out of the water.
Mrs Tatum and her husband Mike then drove Sid to the animal hospital where the vet told them that Sid, who was trapped under the ice for more than minute, would have died if he had been in the pool a few seconds longer.

Mrs Tatum told Fox News that the couple’s pool pump had broken a week before winter storms hit and if it had been working the water wouldn’t have frozen over.
Mr Tatum uploaded the video to Facebook alongside the caption: ‘We almost lost our ”little” Sid Thursday morning. If it wasn’t for Jennie’s quick reaction, he would not be here.
‘I was at work, but the whole incident was recorded. He was trapped under the ice in the water a little over a minute. It was awful. Jennie is truly my amazing and so heroic!!
‘I’m so thankful they are ok. Sid is traumatized and will not step a foot in the backyard. He will only go out front.’
