Moment mother-of-three discovers she has won £1million jackpot – weeks after pranking her husband she had scooped £250k
When Charlotte Peart pranked her husband by telling him she had won £250,000 on the lottery she had no idea that just weeks later her joke jackpot would turn into a reality and make her a millionaire.
The mother-of-three scooped £1million on the EuroMillions back in 2018 just weeks after trying to fool her husband Daniel.
But when the 33-year-old first saw the email alerting her to the huge windfall after matching five numbers, she initially ignored it, thinking she’d only bagged £3.
Now, five years on from her life-changing jackpot, a newly emerged audio clip has revealed the moment former admin worker Charlotte phoned the lotto call centre giggling and telling the operator: ‘I think I’m going to cry.’
In the heartwarming clip, Charlotte tells the call handler: ‘I think I have won a considerable amount on the lottery,’ before then saying: ‘Oh my God, oh my God,’ when he tells her she had won £1million.

Charlotte, 33, and husband Daniel, 32, say their lives have been changed forever by the win in 2018 – as a new audio clip of the moment Charlotte found out was released today
‘I found out this morning. You get emails come through and you’ve won three quid so I left it. I thought I would just go on there and check it. I didn’t expect to see six zeros at the end. You don’t see that often. I can’t believe it, I think I’m in shock.’
Charlotte, who shared a screenshot of her winning email to her husband as proof of her jackpot windfall, was then told by the operator: ‘Congratulations, have a good day.’ ‘I’m having a brilliant day, cheers,’ replied the giddy mother-of-three.
Five years on from the win and Charlotte has started her own small business, bought a dream family home and now spends more time than ever with her three children and carpenter husband, 32.
Speaking of the moment she scooped her £1million jackpot, Charlotte told the Mirror this week: ‘I vividly remember it, I could not stop giggling. It was nerves coupled with shocked disbelief.
‘Two weeks earlier I had wound Daniel up that we’d won £250,000 so to call to officially claim £1million was just crazy.’
Charlotte used the last £1.50 in their online lotto account to enter the draw. Speaking at the time, Daniel said he was on a building site when his wife broke the life-changing news.
‘When she first rang I thought it was another wind-up,’ he told Peterborough Today. ‘It was only when she sent me a screenshot of the winning message that I realised it was true and from then on it’s been crazy.’
Charlotte used her windfall to buy a new home, start her own business and buy two Labradors – including one called ‘Millie’ – short for ‘Millionaire’
Charlotte, of Whittlesey in Cambridgeshire, added: ‘Ever since he was a young lad Daniel has been convinced he will win the lottery so he’s sure he willed it to happen.
‘I don’t mind if it was his belief or my decision to spend that spare £1.50 on EuroMillions HotPicks but whatever it is, we couldn’t be happier.’
Since the win, the family have bought have two labradors including one called Millie – short for ‘millionaire’.
