A Perth mother has told a court how she was begging for help around the time she allegedly strangled and threatened to kill her own seven-month-old baby.
Holly Anne Maxwell, 26, was given bail at Joondalup Magistrates Court on Tuesday despite the horrific nature of the charges laid against her which the police prosecutor said were so graphic in nature “the police have protected our office from viewing them”.

She went on to explain how Maxwell allegedly sent disturbing images and videos to the father of the baby, one where a sock was shoved in the baby’s mouth and another with a cord tied around his neck pulled tight enough to “cause him discomfort”.
Maxwell was heard on the video screaming, “I’m going to f***ing flog this c***, I’m going to kill this c***“, he’s going to get hurt”.
A video was also sent with the baby crying in the back of a car with the accused heard screaming “I can’t stand being stuck alone with this c***.”
The court heard how Maxwell separated from the father of the baby late last year and that a number of the messages and videos were directed at him as a way to “emotionally manipulate” and scare him.

Maxwell appeared upset and visibly distraught in the court dock as she listened to details of the charges laid against her.
“I was begging them for help,” she said, crying.
“Then they ask me to drop him off and then they don’t answer the door.
“It’s hard and I don’t know what to do.
“When will I be able to see my son?”
But Magistrate Kelly Thompson said Maxwell’s cry for help “goes far beyond what is excusable”.
She granted Maxwell bail under the condition she had no contact with the child and sought the help of a doctor immediately.
The baby was taken to Perth Children’s Hospital yesterday and the extent of his injuries are unknown.
Maxwell is due to appear in court again on January 20.
