- He managed to brake in time to avoid a major crash before car was driven away
- His mother Jennie called the driver an ‘idiot’ who ‘didn’t even look’ at her son
Video footage shows the moment a teenager was almost knocked off his motorbike by an impatient driver who pulled out in front of him.
Ethan Smart, 19, was riding his moped when the driver of a Mazda pulled out in front of him as the driver attempted to jump a queue of traffic caused by the opening of a festive market.
The near miss was captured on Ethan’s helmet camera as he rode through Worcester city centre last Thursday afternoon.
The teenager managed to slam on his brakes quickly enough to avoid a major crash but said he was ’99 per cent sure’ the back of his bike made contact with the car.
More than 10,000 festive revellers descended on the city to enjoy the opening of the annual Victorian Christmas Fayre which caused long tailbacks.

The video clip, posted onto Facebook by Ethan, shows him riding down London Road while on his way home from college.
He travels past a few vehicles before the silver car can be seen turning right and into the Ethan’s path.
The teenager pulls off an emergency stop, swerves towards the central reservation and ends up beside the driver’s side of the car.
The driver of the car, who appears unaware of the near miss, continues driving straight on, while Ethan remains stationary.
He can be seen gesticulating towards the car before looking around to see whether other people in the queue of traffic saw the incident.
He then appears to shake his head before continuing on his way.
Ethan was not injured in the incident.
His mother Jennie, 46, of Worcester, claimed the driver of the vehicle cut back into the queue of traffic after travelling down the outside lane.
She said: ‘My son was on his way home from college when this idiot almost hit him.
‘He didn’t even look. I’m fuming.
‘My son was on a moped which is lit up like Blackpool illuminations.
‘He would have seen him if he had bothered to look.
‘It’s just a total disregard for other road users.
‘Then just after the lights he pulls back in and goes on up the London Road.
‘Worcester traffic is terrible and the Victorian fair just adds to that.
‘It does sound like I’m moaning about the fair. I’m not. I think it brings in much needed business to our city.
‘I’m not concerned about that, I’m more concerned about the recklessness of drivers especially this one in and around Worcester.’
West Mercia Police said it is investigating the incident.
