DC Comics’ Newest Superman, Jon Kent, To Come Out as Bisexual In New Issue

Superman is the latest DC Comics hero to come out!

On Monday (October 11), which is National Coming Out Day, it was revealed that in the next issue of Superman: Son of Kal-El #5, Jon Kent’s Superman will come out as bisexual and his friendship with reporter Jay Nakamura will develop into a full-on romance.

If you don’t know, Jon Kent is the son of Clark Kent who took up the role of Superman “after his father left Earth in order to stop Mongul and free a group of enslaved people on Warworld,” according to Screen Rant.

“I’ve always said everyone needs heroes and everyone deserves to see themselves in their heroes. Today, #Superman, the strongest superhero on the planet, comes out as bisexual,” co-writer Tom Taylor shared on Twitter.

“Superman’s symbol has always stood for hope, for truth and for justice. Today, that symbol represents something more. Today, more people can see themselves in the most powerful superhero in comics,” he added in a statement.
