We are both 25, fit and healthy. Many of our wedding guests said we were the best-looking couple they had ever seen.

But little do they know – I feel totally inadequate.

Unlike most people, we waited until our wedding night to have sex.

But it was a disaster. I wasn’t able to get an erection, either that night or since.

It is so embarrassing and my wife even asked if I am gay by way of explaining why I can’t get physically aroused when I’m with her.

I’m not gay and I really fancy her. So why is this happening to me?

DEIDRE SAYS: Wedding-night jitters are a real thing.

You most likely felt anxious about performing and since then have started worrying the same would happen again, which in turn has caused more anxiety.

Often, the solution is to agree to a few sex-free weeks. Then the erections normally return naturally and you can have sex without overthinking it.

I am sending you my support pack on Erection Problems, which explains how you can break the cycle together.
