During this time she must battle hallucinations and the sheer panic of being unable to do anything.

6. Cult of Chucky (2017)

The 2017 iteration of Chucky is the seventh in its franchise.

Fortunately the sequel did not disappoint, with many critics hailing it just as strong as the original films.

It followed 2013's Curse of Chucky and centres around the iconic main protagonist Chucky doll, upon whom the films are based.

7. Scream (1996)

The 1996 slasher film is the first in the franchise, which gave way to a further three sequels.

It's inspired by the real-life Gainesville Ripper case and follows High Schooler Sidney Prescott (Neve Campbell) as she is targeted by an unknown killer wearing a ghost face mask.

The classic features an all-star cast including Courteney Cox, David Arquette and Drew Barrymore to name a few.

And it also spawned the Halloween costume go-to – the Scream mask or 'ghostface,' so we can also thank it for that.

This iconic horror is based off os Stephen King's best selling novel of the same name.

IT is the clown that has been terrifying children in the town of Derry, Maine.

IT only appears to children and reels them in by talking to them, making himself seem like the perfect 'friend'.

In 1989, a group of high school kids decide they want to solve the mystery of the missing children, only to find the disappearances stretching back centuries.

The brave teens have to remember one thing: IT feeds off of their fear.

Whilst admittedly low on the Rotten Tomatoes scale, Truth Or Dare does have an interesting premise.

The famous game initially seems like a  harmless way to pass the time for a bunch of friends.

When the game turns deadly it's up to the group to find out how to end the cycle before the next game reaches a new group.

21. The Ring (2002)

The Ring was a massive hit when it was released in 2002, making a whopping $250 million at the box office.

A remake of a 1998 Japanese horror movie Ring, the film famously sees a scary woman crawl out of a well and through a TV screen from a cursed videotape.

Anyone who watches the videotape dies seven days later, leading a journalist to investigate what is actually going on.

Director – the aptly named Gore Verbinski – manages to do a sterling job in the notoriously tricky remake genre and paved the way for even more English-language remakes of Asian horror films.

22. The Evil Dead (1981)

If you're after a horror classic, look no further then The Evil Dead.

Starring Bruce Campbell, this film is seen as a cult classic in the horror genre and spawned a whole franchise including two sequels, video games and more recently, a television series.

The Evil Dead follows a group of college students who visit a remote woodland cabin and play a mysterious audio tape which releases demons and spirits.

Members of the group end up suffering from demonic possession, leading to plenty of slasher gore and bloodshed.

23. Get Out (2017)

A real breath of fresh air for the horror genre, Get Out follows Chris Washington, a young African-American man who uncovers a disturbing secret when he meets the family of his Caucasian girlfriend, Rose Armitage.

The film stars Daniel Kaluuya and Allison Williams and received praise for the themes running through the horror flick.

It grossed $255 million at the worldwide box office and has often been cited as one of the best films of the 2010s.

24. Final Destination (2000)

The film that spawned four spin offs, the original film – a supernatural horror – is difficult to beat.

Devon Sawa plays a teenager who cheats death after having a premonition of a catastrophic plane explosion after boarding the aircraft. He and several of his classmates leave the plane before the explosion occurs, but Death comes looking for them throughout the film and tries to claim their souls in a number of unique and horrifying ways, leaving viewers jumping out of their seats.

25. The VVitch (2015)

Collider has described this film as "one of the scariest (and prettiest) horror movies in recent memory. Which is a pretty strong statement to make.

Set in 1630s New England, it follows a family who are banished from a Puritan plantation for being too religious.

Living in seclusion near some woods, their baby is kidnapped and the parents fall further into madness as the sinister dial is ramped up.

This 2018 supernatural horror stars Australian actress Toni Collette as a woman called Annie, whose family is haunted by a mysterious presence following the death of her mother.

Ethan Hawke plays a true-crime writer called Ellison Oswalt in this 2012 supernatural horror.

Ellison discovers a box of home movies depicting grisly murders in the loft of his new house, and it subsequently puts his own family in danger.

Sinister was inspired by fellow horror movie The Ring, after co-writer C. Robert Cargill had a nightmare about the 2002 film.

The movie's success spawned an equally scary sequel in 2015.

This 90s horror classic is a must for any fans of the genre.

It follows Tony Todd as the Candyman—a slasher villain who stalks the residents of North Side Chicago.

The Candyman can be summoned by saying his name five times to a mirror, causing him to appear and kill the summoner with a hook attached to the bloody stump of his right arm.

A student called Helen tries to discredit the Candyman's urban legend, but soon finds herself in bloodied peril.

Madeline Brewer stars in this Netflix original from 2018 as a enterprising cam girl, Alice.

Alice is obsessed with her ranking on a camgirl site, but soon discovers someone else – who looks identical to her – is also streaming videos on the same site.

This sends Alice on an increasingly violent and disturbing quest to find out who her doppelgänger is and how to stop them.

31. Apostle

A distinct slow burner but stick with it because it's filled with blood, gore, twists and suspense that'll have you scratching your head for days after watching.

The 2018 film follows a Thomas as he attempts to rescue his sister Jennifer from an evil cult on a remote island.

After infiltrating the gang to find his sibling he reveals the many secrets the island has to tell and must fight his way out.

32. The Babysitter

If you like your demon-worshiping horror with a side helping of easy-on-the eye actors and plenty of gratuitous violence then look no further.

Cole is 12-years-old and is being babysat by hot blonde, Bee, played by Samara Weaving – the most popular girl in his school.

After going to bed he creeps back downstairs to find out what Bee and her pals are doing but unwittingly interrupts them taking part in a demonic ritual.

This 2017 film also stars Bella Thorne as one of Bee's hot friends and although gory, is quite a 'fun' watch that'll have you reaching for the cushion and laughing in equal measures.

33. Bram Stoker's Dracula

This 1992 classic stars Gary Oldman, as Dracula, and Winona Ryder, as Mina/Elisabeta, is really a love story but with loads of blood, suspense, jumpy moments and the mystical beings that rampage London and Romania.
It tells the origin story of Dracula and how he came to be a vampire his search for his lost love.

Directed and produced by Francis Ford Coppola, the film refused to use contemporary special effects techniques such as computer-generated imagery, instead opting to use antiquated effects techniques from the early history of cinema.

34. A Nightmare on Elm Street

A remake of the 1984 Wes Craven cult film that spawned the famous franchise, it's not as good as the original but still well worth a watch with plenty of jumpy moments and hide-behind-your-cushion scenes.

It follows the same storyline as its predecessor, but goes to a darker level making the murderous Freddy Kruger a child molester and using CGI to create the monster's appearance to be closer to that of a burn victim.

Wes wasn't happy about not being consulted on the film but Robert Englund, who portrayed Freddy in the previous eight films, voiced his support of the remake.

35. The Ravenous

This 2017 French-language Canadian horror film is set in a small town in rural Quebec, and follows a small group of survivors as they deal with an outbreak that lead to zombies.

The whole atmosphere of the film is dark and misty and there's an overwhelming sense of urgency as the viewer watches a desperate father trying to save his daughter from the hordes of brain-eating monsters.

There are lots of twists and turns as the group realise what's about to happen. Add to that plenty of undead children intent on eating you and you've got yourself a great zombie film.

36. Ratched

Ratched is an origin story about the iconic character first introduced in Ken Kesey's 1962 novel, One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest, and made unforgettable in the 1975 Academy Award-winning film of the same name.

The series delves into Nurse Ratched's past and how she became a terrifying medical overlord in an asylum.

The bone-chilling trailer shows Mildred Ratched arriving in California shortly after World War II to seek employment at a leading psychiatric hospital, where new and unsettling experiments have begun.

37. 1922

Rancher Wilfred James conspires to murder his wife Arlette for financial gain and convinces his teenage son Henry to participate.

Based on the novel of the same name by Stephen King, 1922 is full of suspense and it explores what guilt can do to the human mind.

Written and directed by Zak Hilditch, even Stephen King, infamously known for panning adaptations of his work, praised the film.

38. Wounds

This unnerving supernatural thriller – starring the Call My By Your Name star Armie Hammer and the Fifty Shades of Grey actress Dakota Johnson alongside Deadpool 2's Zazie Beetz – sees the characters' inner demons pulled into the real world to mess with their heads.

These demons take the form of cockroaches, gaping wounds, sickness and a mysterious portal.

The plot synopsis reads: "Wounds is a probing thriller from BAFTA winning writer/director Babak Anvari, following his 2016 debut feature Under the Shadow.

39. Eerie

Horror flick Eerie is so scary, viewers are having to sleep with the lights on after watching.

The Filipino thriller has even been lauded as the year's most terrifying film since it debuted on the streaming service.

Eerie is set at an all-girls Catholic school in the Phillipines. When a student unexpectedly commits suicide, others claim they are being haunted by her ghost.

A clairvoyant guidance counsellor, played by Filipino actress Bea Alonzo, then decides to investigate,

In doing so, she uncovering some horrific truths about the convent's dark past.

40. Veronica

Netflix's latest horror film Veronica is based on a true story and is so scary viewers can't make it to the end.

The Spanish original, directed by Paco Plaza, tells the story of a young girl called Veronica and her siblings who try and summon their dead father's spirit using a Ouija board.

However, things take a dark turn when Veronica passes out during the ritual. From that moment on she starts to notice supernatural and spooky goings on that escalate over a three day period.

So far, so standard, but what makes Veronica interesting is that it's based on a file from the Madrid police force in which a girl mysteriously died after dabbling with the occult in the early 90s.

41. The Haunting of Bly Manor

Following on from The Haunting of Hill House, this nine-episode series is sure to give you the creeps.

Bly Manor is based on the the 1898 novella The Turn of the Screw by Henry James.

The story is about a young woman who moves to the English countryside to care for two orphaned children.

While Hill House was the story of family struggle and trauma, Bly Manor is about broken hearts that never heal and tragic star-crossed romance.

Bly Manor intertwines more than one supernatural and love-centric story by Henry James, also including The Jolly Corner and The Romance of Certain Old Clothes.

42. The Conjuring 

Based on true events, this spine-chiller tells the story of a New England family who begins to have encounters with spirits in their farmhouse.

The 2013 supernatural horror is directed by James Wan and stars Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmigaa as the main characters.

The Conjuring focuses on the alleged real-life exploits of Ed and Lorraine Warren, a married couple who investigated paranormal events.

43. American Horror Story: Hotel

This is the fifth instalment of American Horror Story – and potentially one of the best.

It features Lady Gaga as The Countess and also sees the return of AHS faves such as Sarah Paulson, Kathy Bates and Evan Peters.

The plot centres around the mysterious Hotel Cortez in Los Angeles, California, that catches the eye of an intrepid homicide detective.

The Cortez is host to many disturbing scenarios and paranormal events, and is overseen by its enigmatic matron, The Countess, who is a bloodsucking fashionista.

The hotel is loosely based on an actual hotel built in 1893 by H. H. Holmes in Chicago, Il. for the 1893 World's Columbian Exposition.

It became known as the 'Murder Castle' as it was built for Holmes to torture, murder, and dispose of evidence just as is the Cortez.

44. Misery

Misery is a 1990 psychological thriller film directed by Rob Reiner based on Stephen King's 1987 novel of the same name, starring James Caan and Kathy Bates.

The plot is about an obsessive fan who holds an author captive and forces him to write a story.

Bates won the Academy Award for Best Actress at the 63rd Academy Awards, making Misery the only film based on a Stephen King novel to win an Oscar.

King himself has stated that Misery is one of his top ten favourite film adaptations.

45. Insidious

Insidious is guaranteed to scare you out of your wits and leave you sleeping with the lights on.

The 2010 supernatural horror film directed by James Wan, stars Patrick Wilson, Rose Byrne, and Barbara Hershey.

The story centres on a couple whose son inexplicably enters a comatose state and becomes a vessel for a variety of entities in an astral dimension known as 'The Further' who want to inhabit his body.

Martin Freeman plays a man in Australia who has recently lost his wife to infection, while also dealing with the fact he has 48 hours before he becomes a member of the walking dead.

47. The Autopsy of Jane Doe

Brian Cox and Emile Hirsch star in this 2016 horror about a coroner and his son who live in a small town.

One night, they receive the body of a dead woman who looks pristine from the outside but is all messed up on the inside with her organs covered in cuts, scars and burns.

As they try to figure out what happened, the experience a supernatural phenomena which will leave viewers chilled to their bones.

48. Creep

This 2014 film stars Marc Duplass as Josef, a man with terminal cancer who wants to film a video diary for his son.

He recruits a videographer called Brice to film him at a remote cabin, where it turns out Brice is actually a sadistic killer who likes to toy with his victims before he murders them.

Filmed on a hand cam, Creep is claustrophobic and terrifying.

The Crow straddles a number of genre, touching on horror, superhero and drama.

The film sees Brandon Lee play a rock musician return from the dead in search of vengeance.

50. The Girl with all the Gifts

This zombie film has a strong cast featuring Glenn Close, Gemma Arterton and Paddy Considine.

Complex and scary, it is definitely worth a watch, even if it's through your fingers at times.

51. Don't Listen

Daniel (Rodolfo Sancho) and Sara (Belén Fabra) make a living flipping houses, but the new house they've just moved in to with their nine-year-old son, Eric, is called "the house of the voices" by the neighbours.

Eric is the first one to notice the odd noises behind each door and then voices start to taunt them through the radio and walkie talkies.

52. His House

An unmissable thriller stars some of the most talented actors in Britain today, including Matt Smith, Sope Dirisu and Wunmi Mosaku.

The former Doctor Who plays the burnt out case worker of South Sudanese refugees Bol (Dirisu) and Rial (Mosaku) as they try to make a new start in England.

As they try to get their British citizenship they can't not ignore the growing horrors that happens to each of them in their new home, including seeing their dead child haunt them in a twisted ghost form.

Directed by Oz Rodriguez, this horror comedy follows a group of teenage friends from the Bronx who are fighting to save their neighbourhood from gentrification…and vampires.

54. Cadaver

This movie is Creepy – with a capital C.

A married couple and their child are invited to a weird dinner party by a smarmy right guy who in the starving aftermath of a nuclear disaster, promises everyone a free meal and entertainment via interactive dinner theatre.

But things really start to get freaky when guests start to disappear from the luxury hotel.

56. Spree

Stranger Things' Joe Keery is unrecognisable as the social media fame hungry serial killer in Spree.

Keery plays Kurt Kunkle a social media obsessed ride share driver who kills his passengers with poisoned water.

Kunkle will stop at nothing to go viral in this fictional film – which is no out of the realm of possibility.

His shot at fame is cruelly stolen from him, relegating Kunkle to a forgotten corner of the internet.

Do not be surprised if Keery picks up a swag of awards for his performance in Spree.

South Korean film really shone bright in 2020, starting off with Parasite cleaning up at the Oscars.

But South Koreans really know how to pull off a zombie drama too – see Kingdom – and #Alive follows video game live streamer's fight to stay alive in his Seoul apartment during a zombie apocalypse. 

Described as "genuinely upsetting" and at times "funny", #Alive was the fourth most watched foreign film on US Netflix in 2020.

Things were always going to go awry for a group technology-dependent teenagers who are forced to go offline when camping in the Polish woods.

The 2020 film sees the adolescents face a deadly danger lurking in the woods.

While trying to get over their addiction to technology, a supernatural force wants to keep them offline for good.

The name might be a little bit on the nose, but this Indian film is definitely terrifying.

On a dare, and against their better judgement decide to spend a night in an abandoned hotel which has a reputation for being haunted.

Their worst fears come true when they realise they are not alone and their worst fears come true.

60. 47 Metres Down: Uncaged

There is definitely a niche of horror films dedicated to scary sharks and while, 47 Metres Down: Uncaged in no Jaws, it definitely is a terrifying film.Four teenage divers stumble upon the sunken ruins of a Mayan city which turns out to be a hunting ground for deadly great white sharks with heightened senses.As their air supply diminishes they have to make their way through an underwater maze of claustrophobic caves and creepy tunnels to ensure their survival.

61. The Unsettling

This horror series originally premiered on YouTube and follows the unsettling goings on at a foster home.

Becca, played by Holly Taylor, isn't exactly given the warmest of welcomes when she moves to the isolated venue.

Discovering a brave streak, she takes it upon herself to discover just what is causing the strange vibes.

62. Shutter Island

An eerie psychological thriller from 2010 with a huge slice of Leo Di Caprio – what could be better?

The Titanic star playas the protagonist in this chilling flick as he investigates a psychiatric facility out in the sticks after a patient goes missing.

Referencing a Foucault-esq concept of Madness, is it in fact Leonardo's character who is mentally disturbed in this Martin Scorsese movie?

63. No Escape Room

Available on Netflix from February 18, sees a family-bonding escape room session go very wrong.

Stars Jeni Ross, Mark Ghanimé and Hamza Haq play the family who quickly discover the mysteries contained within the four walls may well include a terrifying spirit.

The spook appears to be playing havoc with the escape room in an attempt to jeopardise their safety.

64. The Conjuring

This 2013 supernatural horror is the inaugural movie in The Conjuring franchise.

Directed by James Wan, the plot sees the Perron family move into an old Rhode Island farmhouse.

Paranormal activity occurs through the first few nights before the family discover their dog Sadie – who refused to enter the property – is dead.

They contact demonologists – but can they put a stop to their struggles?

65. Before I Wake

It's the first Netflix horror released by Mike Flanagan – who has become somewhat iconic thanks to The Haunting of Hill House.

It's better than it's reputation may have you believe, and is certain to have you scared if you've got a fear of nightmares.

The story follows an eight-year-old boy called Cody, played by Jacob Tremblay, whose fear of going to sleep and dreaming is more than just child's play.

When he's adopted by Mark and Jessie, they are startled to find their dead biological son in their living room, brought to life by Cody's dreams.

66. The Blair Witch Project

Proof that the sometimes the oldie but goldie horrors are best.

A cult classic, 1999 film The Blair Witch project has become the model for how to do DIY horror and is still terrifying over two decades on from its release.

Directed by Cuban director Eduardo Sánchez, it tells the story of three students transversing through the Maryland backwoods.

While attempting to solve the Blair Witch mystery, they lose their map and things take a blood-chilling turn…

67. Girl On The Third Floor

If you're a fan of a haunted house, this Travis Stevens directed horror film is for you.

Released in 2019, this grisly film sees wrestler C.M Punk portray a soon-to-be dad renovating one creepy looking house that is full of, well, bad things.

While it'll also have you laughing, you'll need a pillow to hide behind as the brutal film sees the house fighting back against the family, physically and mentally.

If black goop pouring out of pipes and human organs in the walls isn't enough to creep you out – a demonic, faceless woman will do the trick.

68. The Blackcoats Daughter

Emma Roberts fans – look no further for your new favourite horror.

Directed by horror actor Anthony Perkins, who played Norman Bates in Alfred Hitchcock's Psycho, directs this creepy film about a boarding school.

In the dead of winter, Emma's character takes a mysterious journey to the isolated school where she meets two students stranded there on their holidays.

An unseen evil force causes a series of twists and turns in the murderous storyline, packed with guts and gore.

69. Creep 2

If the original Creep wasn't enough to scare you senseless, there's already a second instalment.

Creep 2 is packed with everything that made the original so great – laughs, awkwardness and terror – in double doses.

It follows video artist Sarah as she unknowingly meets with a serial killer in a cabin.

Filmed on a hand cam like its predecessor, Creep 2 is similarly claustrophobic and terrifying.

70. The Conjuring 2

Why not plump for a back-to-back Conjuring fear fest?

The second instalment, released three years later in 2016, sees the action move to Enfield in London.

The paranormal investigators are called in to help a single mum of four who is adamant an evil spirit has invaded her home.

As the horrifying action ramps up, the woman's youngest daughter starts to show signs of demonic possession.

71. Scary Stories To Tell In The Dark

Scary Stories To Tell In The Dark follows a group of teens who discover a notebook full of terrifying stories in their local town’s ‘haunted house’.

Written by a woman who once lived there, and supposedly died in the house, the tale takes some scary twists as they begin to come to life.

72. The Nun

This 2018 movie is a spin-off of The Conjuring 2, focusing on the nun possessed by a demon called Valak.

Based in 1952 Romania, the story follows a Roman Catholic priest and a novitiate nun who are sent by the Vatican to investigate the sudden apparent suicide of one of the nuns who were there.

Soon they find themselves in over their head as an unholy secret is uncovered, with a demonic presence threatening their lives.

73. Haunted

If you’re into something more realistic, then Haunted might be the thing for you.

The anthology series tracks paranormal activity and experiences episode by episode, with people coming forward with unexplained goings on and horror stories that will keep you up at night.

74. The Visit

Written by M Night Shyamalan, The Visit follows two young children who are sent to spend the weekend with their estranged grandparents.

While initially getting along well with their doddering relatives, who they’ve never met before now, the brother and sister begin to worry when their grandma and pops start acting stranger and stranger.

Eventually it ends up turning more sinister than either of them imagined.

75. Jaws

An absolute classic in the horror/thriller genre, Jaws follows a man-eating great white shark who attacks beachgoers at a summer resort town.

Police chief Martin Brody (Roy Scheider) wants to close the beaches, but he is overruled by mayor Larry Vaughn (Murray Hamilton) who fears the loss of tourist revenue could cripple the town.

Ichthyologist Matt Hooper (Richard Dreyfuss) and ship captain Quint (Robert Shaw) offer to help Brody capture the killer beast, leading the trio to a battle of man vs. nature.

76. Army of the Dead

This zombie heist film by Zack Snyder stars Dave Bautista, Omari Hardwick and Ella Purnell.

It is set in Las Vegas after a zombie outbreak and follows a group of mercenaries who have been tasked with carrying out the greatest heist ever – within the quarantine zone.

As you might expect, things don't go according to plan, but it makes for a fun watch with plenty of action to keep you entertained.

77. The Platform

This Spanish science-fiction horror is set in a large, tower-style "Vertical Self-Management Center".

Residents are switched every 30 days between its many floors, with food being dispensed on a platform at the top.

Such a system leads to conflict, as the residents on the top floor get to eat as much as they can, before each subsequent floor gets the ever decreasing leftovers from the floor above.

78. Zombieland

This post-apocalyptic zombie film stars Woody Harrelson, Jesse Eisenberg, Emma Stone and Abigail Breslin.

It follows a geeky college kid who is making his way through the zombie apocalypse before meeting three strangers who then all join forces in a bid to find a zombie-free sanctuary.

With plenty of laughs and action, the film spawned a sequel, 2019's Zombieland: Double Tap.

79. Under the Shadow

This psychological horror film follows a  mother and daughter who are haunted by a mysterious evil in 1980s Tehran, during the War of the Cities.

After Shideh's building is hit by a missile, a superstitious neighbour suggests that the missile was cursed and might be carrying malevolent Middle-Eastern spirits.

The mother must confront the spirits to save herself and her daughter.

80: The Babysitter: Killer Queen

This black comedy-horror is a sequel to the 2017 film The Babysitter.

It continues the story of Cole Johnson, who must again fight to ensure his survival over one night, as he is hunted by demonic enemies, some old, some new.

The cast includes Bella Thorne, Judah Lewis and Emily Alyn Lind.

81. Black Summer


Season two of this completely terrifying zombie apocalypse horror has just dropped and is already leaving viewers afraid.

Black Summer follows a group of strangers who come together in freezing condition to try and survive a zombie apocalypse.

Lead character Rose (Jamie King) sets out to find her daughter in the early days after the apocalypse.

82. Z Nation

From the same production company that brought us Black Summer comes Z Nation, a very gritty take on the zombie genre.

In this series a ragtag team attempt to transport the only known survivor of a zombie virus across post-apocalyptic America to a lab waiting for his blood.

But in true horror fashion, they don't know their last hope for a vaccine is hiding a dark secret which threatens all of them.

83. Fear Street Trilogy

In 1994, a group of teenagers discover the terrifying events that have haunted their town for generations may all be connected – and they may be the next targets.

Based on R.L. Stine’s best-selling horror series, Fear Street follows Shadyside’s sinister history through a nightmare 300 years in the making.

The story takes place over three parts – Fear Street Part 1: 1994, Fear Street Part 2: 1978 and Fear Street Part 3: 1666 – and is released on three different dates.

Detention is never fun for anyone and becomes especially creepy when you're doing it a school in the middle of nowhere.

That's what happens to high school student, Fang Ray Shin in the 1960s during Taiwan's White Terror martial law period.

She falls in love with the teacher who organises their clandestine study group for banned groups, but then betrayal and an encounter of the paranormal kind upend her life.

Trying to get with the in crowd has never been so dangerous – or creepy.

86. Sinister

Ethan Hawke stars in this 2012 film as true-crime writer Ellison Oswald, who is in a bit of a slump.

Desperate for a hit after failing to have a bestseller for nearly 10 years, he discovers the existence of a snuff film showing the deaths of a family, and vows to solve the mystery.

This sees him move his family into the house but he soon learns that living in the property could be fatal.

87. The Woman in Black

Daniel Radcliffe plays recently widowed lawyer Arthur Kipps in this 2012 film.

Arthur is sent to a remote village to put a deceased eccentric's affairs in order.

However, it soon becomes clear the villagers are hiding a terrible secret, his late client's house is haunted by the spirit of a woman who is trying to find someone and something she lost.

No one, not even children, are safe from her wrath.

88. Ma

Octavia Spencer plays a middle-aged woman who befriends some teenagers and decides to let them party in her basement.

She does, however, have some rules: One of the kids has to stay sober, don't curse, and never go upstairs. She also insists they call her Ma, but her behaviour soon becomes obsessive and the teens quickly realise they are in the worst place on Earth.

89. Boogeyman

A young boy named Tim witnesses his father being dragged away by the titular Boogeyman.

Despite his mother trying to reassure him that he's not real, Tim is never the same again.

90. The Cabin in the Woods

Chris Hemsworth stars in this 2011 movie as one of five friends who head to a remote cabin for a holiday.

In classic horror style, the quintet are picked off one by one by zombies but there are other factors are at play.

Two scientists are manipulating the goings-on, but there's even more to it than that, which explains the high body count by the end.
